Serious wine night with M (Brasserie Astoria) : Red fruit, spices, touch of vanilla, med body, lacks a little weight for 1er due to the vintage. High acid with med finish. A little modern and disjointed at this moment. Made in a more approachable style.

Opened at Caprice in HK. Half-decanted, half P&P. This was interesting for me. In general, I'm a fan of this Domaine, but this wine in particular felt quite weak for an MSD 1er cru. This was very approachable, but very light and I feel like there's more concentration in the village MSD compared to this. Still, well-made, clean and going down very easily. Great value and early-drinking Burgundy, and will definitely continue to seek out other bottles from the Domaine. …

Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of sweet spices, nice fragrant new oak, red cherries, touch of fresh earth. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (145), medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of nice toasty oak, sweet spices, sweet red cherries, darker red and black cherries with more air, fresh earth, stony minerals in background. …
