6 years since my last bottle and this is still significantly too young, but starting to come around. It is definitely tasty; initial opening has a hint of oak, but mostly just lovely dark nebbiolo fruit alongside tobacco, tar, floral notes, and some anise/mint. It is expressive and full throttle on the palate with significant underlying structure. It is overall excellent with great concentration and energy. It feels a little more polished and modern next to the Cappellano, but not …

Excellent, however paired with the 89 which greatly outshined it. I think primarily because of age. This has the structure to last and improve. Very good fruit and soft tannins.

Initially it appealed to me with its silky, approachable nature. But as we settled in over a long dinner, it seemed unsophisticated relative to its peers. Will be interesting to see how it develops.

Big and bold, with huge tannins and powerful acids. Built to last, but beginning to show some integration. A lovely wine built for food. I'd wait a few more to pop (and leave some time to decant). Nice nose with good secondary flavors. PDQ94

Gaja Tasting (Wine World, Seattle, WA) : Dark red body. Subtle perfumed nose. A beautifully elegant body full of plum, black cherry, and darker spices. This is a powerful wine with a long, lingering finish. Refined tannins, good acids and structure. This is a really nice wine right now, and will only get better with time!
