$110 village wine 2023 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet. Light straw gold, some viscosity (13.0 alc.); citrus, stone fruit, earthy, light mineral nose; low-mid acids; balanced slightly short finish. 16.5/91.

Pop and pour in Batard.

Remember it as : Young with acidic , the sweet lemon , mineral. Good wine ( wait one year )

Quick Note: Classically Chardonnay. Slightly more nervy and acidic than I had expected. Very subtle oak character. Faint touches of anise and cream behind the tart fruit. Definitely a step up from their Haute Cote du Beaune, but I don’t think it’s a big enough leap to justify the nearly doubled price.

Medium golden yellow in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of apples, pears, citrus notes of lemons/limes & grapefruit with overtones of floral notes of honeysuckle & minerals, stony, toasty oak & a hint of vanilla. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of apples, pears & lemons/limes with minerals, flinty, stony, toasty oak & a touch of vanilla. Beautiful showing with generous nose and palate intensity that hits above Villages level. It’s fully stuffed with Puligny character: fruit structure length and very satisfying.

First try with 2023. Young PM from a worldclass producer. The sweet lemon is there , not heavy nor vanilla. Sauzet makes wonderfull Chardonnay. I will put them aside for a while , 1-2 years.

This wine has a special place in my heart so I may be bias but this was the stand out Puligny of the evening. Mineral streak all the way through so when the richness seems too much it's washed away and ready for another go. - Rich lemon curd and well judged oak.

A little tired and past it's prime.

Rich appearance, medium intense yellow, shot with gold and green; good nose with steely acidity, spicy oak, good depth, richness and concentration, harmonious; on the palate balanced and elegant, with a light but firm structure and adequate stuffing, supple, flavours of pineapple, toast, salted butter and toffee; very good length. Showing very well.
