Dark ruby with aromas of dark cherry, forest floor, and earthy. On the bud, it dark fruits, tartness, and a mild spice note. The finish is medium.

Appearance: Ruby with low intensity and low extraction. Nose: Medium intensity with red berries like cranberries and some black fruit, presenting a fresher character. Spices, herbal notes (marjoram), and a toasty, smoky note. Palate: Medium+ to almost high acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium- tannins, low body. Sufficiently balanced with a medium finish.

What a difference a year makes! I wasn't overly impressive when tasting this at the winery last year. I found it a little harsh. This time opened and decanted to accompany cheese. Lovely plummy nose and palate. Smooth and well balanced, medium length. Developing some earthiness. Possibly would still benefit from another couple of years.

Tasted at the winery on tour with Tim Syrad Wine Tours. 70% Nero d'Avola, 30% frappato. Medium plum colour. Cooked plums and cherries on the nose. Palate is dry, plums, violets. I found it a little harsh, maybe it just needs a bit more time.

Nose: Chalk, cranberry, bright red berries. Palate: Powerful and concentrated fruit, dominated by cranberry, with earthy undertones and a subtle hint of petrichor. This wine was astonishing.

Less plush than Nocera, fresher, darker and more mineral. Nice tannic bite, very well structured with very good length. 90-92

Sweet tobacco, earth, mineral, dark berries, and herbs show on the layered bouquet. The wine tastes like it smells, with great earth and mineral accents. Great acid, light tannin, balanced, long. Very interesting.

First vintage of Classico version, with extended aging. Did not do before as vineyards were not ready (planted in 1997-1998). Black label, instead of red for 'normale'. Nero d'Avola 70%, Frappato 30%. Limpid red cherry. Very different experience compared to 'normale'. Open, rich, forthright red cherries and mulberrries. Palate is sapid, flowing, more structure, fresh, amazingly, tobacco, red cherries, finishes very long. E.Tasted at Planeta.
