Medium to dark ruby in colour with initial reductive aromas that were quite earthy & gamey. The aromas progressed to cured meat, tar/tobacco with a hint of floral, black fruit. On the palate, medium to full bodied, savoury black fruit, blackberry/boysenberry/cassis, cured meat, tobacco, floral, high acidity, high slightly angular tannins with a long finish to pepper.
