excellent beaujolais with depth Colour: rich dark red berry. 13.5% alc. Bouquet: rich plum, cherry, violets, spice Palate: flavours as bouquet, plus raspberry and vanilla, minerality, incredible depth of fruit balanced by dry savoury finish, and uplifted clean acid. Some tartrate crystal residue. I'm at a loss to understand earlier critical community notes, bit this has developed perhaps since they were made. January 2015

GM Lindemands Bin 3110 1965 Event: see notes, but a bit disappointing - jammy fruit with vegetal flavs too and awkward balance

3110 and Friends : Bubblegum, orange, lemonade and stems on the nose. The stemminess shows through on the palate and the finish trails away early. No depth to it and the character it does have are not elements I especially like.

Colour is deeper than I expected. Nice aromas, which is a bit deceptive as the palate is very unbalanced. Aromas of wild cherry and vanilla bean with a hit of spirity alcohol shining right through. The front palate is completely empty, and the overall palate offers little but vague fruit and acid, with some fine tannin and an unfortunately short, astringent aftertaste. Sheds a fair bit of fine sediment too. Quite overpriced for what it is.

Gorgeous Gamay: The Wines of Beaujolais (Theatre of Wine, Tufnell Park) : Amazing nose: mineral aromas compete with rich cherry fruit. Palate has a really distinctive pumice-like texture. Real energy, too. Raspberry fruit. Pretty taut just now. Top notch. 17.5/20.

Engaging aromas of cherry, white flowers and mineral. It has good flesh in the mouth and is like biting into a perfectly ripe cherry. There’s some stony minerality and earth just below the succulence and the finish is clean with a whip of cleansing acidity.
