Black Sheep Finds Syrah The Joy Fantastic

Seemed angular the first 60-90 minutes, then became harmonious and unified. A complex bouquet of the earth--wilted violets, white pepper, basil, boysenberry. Medium bodied, fresh dark fruit, finely textured mid-palate, with a long finish reprising the forward aromas. The tannins are elegant, a mix of black tea and chalky minerality, straddling the mid-palate and finish. Medium bright ruby. Mineral, with a touch of earth. White pepper. Lovely savory fruit. Opposite of a fruit bomb. Excellent acid. Very enjoyable over two nights, and showing increased complexity on the second. (At Elderberry House, Oakhurst.)
