Gillmore Vigno Vignadores de Carignan Old Vines Dry Farmed

Dark fruit, wood, resin, herbs - a little medicinal, but very attractive. In the mouth impressive though not really my style, bold and tannic, rather too young than too old, cries for food. Alcohol (14.5%) well embedded though.

Lots of restrictions with the Ava- dry farmed, very old Carignan. Herbs and flowers on the nose. Very perfumed and pretty. And aged in old.foudre. lots of pull on the palate. Delicious.

tangerine and green tea leaf. Gunpowder, flinty, floral. Spearmint. High intensity on nose. Daniella's sister is the artist who does the labels. Sun and circle of life is depicted on label.

Vigno wines are all dry farmed and at least 30year old vines and at least 60% carignane ans then age at least 24 months. Soft and easy going fruit. Lovely. Fresh and fun. Vibrant acidity but with some tannins. Fool your mouth tannins I am being told. And flowers on the nose. In dry farmed poor souls carignan can make dramatic wine but you still need to be super controlling. They’ve stopped using sulfur spray for the last Two years …

Good wine, though not a great value at $35. Aromas of violets and blueberries with a touch of pungent greenness -- just enough to add welcome complexity. Oak is well-balanced. Tasty black fruit on the palate with decent acidity. Coarse tannins and a bitter edge to the finish.
