Ruby color. Fragrant floral nose. Medium body. Flavors of cherry, cranberry, white mushroom and bit of forest floor. The acidity is still fairly prominent, but the fruit has receded greatly throwing the wine a bit off balance. Not sure further aging will improve things. Drink now and for the next few years.

Tasted side-by-side with the 2013. Nose of saline funk leading into a thin palate of soft acidity as it was PnPed. With time, the nose softens into a meaty yet elegant barnyard and cherries. Strawberries and cranberries start to emerge after an hour, but there is still a lack of fruit concentration. Maybe its because of the 2011? Drinking great, but I'm not sure how much this can still evolve.

Bright acidity with a purple brick color. Red fruit predominates. Still a bit out of balance. Needs more time. Another 2 years??

Weekly tasting group RWP #354: Some random wines (@ JvdH) : Red and dark berries as well as cherries in the bouquet. Also oak and green herbs. On the palate a lot of sticky tannin, firm bitterness, cherries, oak and minerals. Still too young. 90+?

Medium body. Very slight bricking. Nose of cranberry and cinnamon. Strawberry and raspberry flavors. Silky tannins with a strong acidity. This has 8-10 years ahead of it. Decant for a few hours before serving or give it another 2 years.

Domaine Pierre Amiot, Morey-St-Denis, 1er Cru Les Ruchots, 2011: Ripe, dark cherries with clean underlying minerality and truckloads of freshness. A traverse through caramel, vanilla and milk chocolate, if only just a hint, betrays oak treatment so minor, you could almost miss it. The wine is stern and unyielding on the palate, providing a full mouthfeel, very low sugars, bright acidity that's backed up with a firm tannic structure. Slight vegetal notes are detected on the finish. I feel that …

Deeper color. The nose is higher pitched, showing aromas of dark raspberry, minerals, spice, flowers and earth. This is medium full bodied on the palate with good concentration and good finesse. The medium plus length finish shows refined tannins.
