Still drinking well - nice balance of fruit and tertiary flavours but comparatively straightforward with a slight lack of complexity.

Still drinking okay in fact still a bit of real strength and bite with clear tannins in the structure. There is still some fruit in there somewhere

This has matured nicely not much tannic structure but fruit still upfront. Nice wine.

A nice fairly soft wine. pleasant flavors. Was good with salad a d bbq ribs. Softens quickly. And the flavors endure. At it's best it seems to me.

Upfront black fruits but a bit short on the finish and ends up a tad jammy with a lack of sufficient structure. Having said that I still enjoyed it -reminded me a little of Rustenberg Peter Barlow but then they are close to each other

Sharp nose, some tea and an abundance of paprika - a little too much even

Vanilla, floral touch, the paprika was very prominent, blueberry, the terroir shows, misses a touch of complexity

Medium to deep garnet red. Quite a bit of bell peppers, pepper, chalkiness and earthiness on the nose. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium bodied. Dry palate with some chalk, vegetal notes, red cherries and a touch of spices. Medium plus finish. Drink till 2022.

Sixth red wine at our annual DMV South African wine tasting. Medium to deep garnet red with a ruby core. Chalky nose with dark berries, sweet spices with some toasted oak. Solid acidity with medium tannins (6/10) and a medium body. Layered palate with notes of black currants, cassis, chalk and earthy notes. A bit of green bitterness in the long finish. Drink till 2020.

Drank this last night with my wine mates at Song Garden last night. Theme of the evening: South African wines. Purple-crimson in colour, this wine is flagship from the Glenelly Estate, owned by May De Lencquesaing of Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. The wine has a very Bordeaux feel, from the nose to the palate to the finish. Nose has typical Pauillac characteristics: blueberry, raspberries, cassis with cheddar, blackcurrant, cherry, and a touch of lead and some spices. One …

This is night 1 after two hours in the glass. I'm surprised by this not being something I like. I will try again on night 2 and add another note if there is a change. No nose, thin mid-palette and hot finish. Not tannic, just hot.

some bitterness in the aftertaste, smoke, still potential in it, but as with the previous bottle suffered from rather fast oxidation

A very charming wine with loads of cedar and cigar ash/ tobacco with dark fruits and vanilla oak. The palate was very elegant and the finish long. A very bordeaux-like wine but with some new world qualities. The style was very balanced and round. This is a beautifully made wine that can age for another few years.

I think I have to review the aging potential of this wine, it almost completely lost its balance on the second day, it remains a beautiful wine : classic new world with some Bordeaux influences seems like a good description of this wine

Well balanced and very long taste. I believe it is of perfect drinking age now or maybe in a year. The tannins are there to give structure but they are quite smooth. Nice wine!

Fresh, elegant perfume nose. Subtle tobacco, blackcurrant, pepper, green capsicum and hints of light toasted oak. It has a smooth velvety entry, very old world style on palate with fresh tobacco notes, blackcurrant, dark fruits and some peppery notes, dry and structured mid-palate. Nice long length with fine chewy tannins. Drinking well now and starts showing some development.

Dark color, powerful animal nose. Tannins are still present but beginning to get integrated. Still very integrated but not over-fruity - more old world style. Was tasted blind against Pontet Canet 2004 and Casanova di Neri Brunello 2004 - most tasters identified this one right as the South African wine - and it was the WOTN!

8.5/10 - Upgraded score. Really starting to come in nicely now. A little cliche but straddles both worlds. Still a big new world wine with french sensitivities. A nice wine to put forth blind to friends and have people guess.

Still young. Tannins not well integrated. Dark fruit, heavy on the dark and light on the fruit. Not much improved on night 2. Will revisit in a year or two.
