Very old. Unpleasant. Perhaps good once, but no longer

Clearly past its prime. Harsh and bitter, without the pleasant fruit or floral characteristics this wine has when younger.

The cold muted the nose, but it was rich, honeyed citrus and tropical fruits. Some almond cookies too. Full bodied with flavors of apricots, almond and some white pepper. Has a lot of similarities with a big Chard, but it has a complexity to it that takes it notch up. Really good and cool wine.

marsanne here is seemingly chardonnay in treatment. Oak treatment shows quite big on the nose in a dried grain sense, but not the cheerio singular vision. There is quite a richness of fruit in the nose(...15.2%!!!), but under the cover of big florals and minerality. light honey notes, with fennel and allspice. In the mouth, texturally, i get an impression of extraction. maybe this is where it is set apart from chardonnay. the lingering spice suggests that more is going …

good wine, however, a little past its prime, lost much of the flower on the nose i love of this wine young.

Wine Watch Best of 2008 Tasting (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) : Thick texture with bright peach and tropical fruit flavors that stood out even after tasting nearly 40 wines.

Best of the Best (Farpointe Cellar) : The nose had peach, honey, citrus, and floral notes. The palate was creamy and rich, and had honey, citrus, and a finish that reminded me of glue.

medium nose of fresh apricots, honey, lemon. Palat was rich and also a little acidic, an ideal wine with hard cheese. Taste similar to the nose and a moderately long finish. Overall and excellent wine to enjoy.

Wine and Cheese Pairing (Farpointe Cellar) : The nose had nice aromas of oranges, pear, and lemon, plus a bit of honey at the end. The palate tasted like apple pie, and finished with spice and pear.

Les Granits and Black Bart; St. Joseph and Napa; paired tastings of marsanne and syrah (Our house) : Exotic nose with perfume of orange peel, allspice, and mineral oil over a core of pear and not-quite-ripe peach fruit. Rich and full-bodied in the mouth, with layered complexity, fig, lemon curd, and honey. This was the biggest hit of the night, with everyone except me preferring it to the Les Granits. I liked this plenty, but it seemed to show its …

A completely unique, very compelling bottle of wine. Stone fruits, soft oak, unctious, beautiful nose of fruit, opens wonderfully, long, long flavors. Buy again.
