Oak and acid on the finish is still coming together, or may never come together. However, this was creamy, smooth and simple enough to go with a fresh, buttered pan-seared Opah fillet with purple sweet potato and rice. Was skeptical of the shipping/storage conditions here in Kauai, so actually exceeded expectations.

EYE: very pale straw and clear. NOSE: oak accompanied by citrus. Our bottle may have been a bit off with a hint of lactic/kraut in the background. PALATE: tart apricot up front fading into canned pineapple with a good bit of oak. Nice balance of acidity vs the flavorful palate.

Relatively soft, Melony with french oak characteristics but lacking anything exciting by way of fruit or focus. It doesn't thrill or deliver at the price point. Although it's easy enough to drink I didn't find myself reaching for it again and again. Poured off a 375ml w/screw cap (no air gap) in the fridge. If it gets better in a few days I'll report.

Tasted at Brix in Omaha. Nose: Creme brulee, citrus - lime and pear, vanilla, and butter. Palate: Creamy mouth-feel, medium-full bodied, nice balance, semi-tart pear flavor appears in the mid-palate through the back-end, ends with a medium length finish.

Napa 2011; 10/6/2011-10/9/2011 (Napa Valley, California) : 8 months in French oak, 25% new, No malolactic. Aged on lees. Round and fully integrated with the oak. Subtle wood. Some buttery round melt in the mouth backed by nice acid.
