Vignai da Duline Pinot Nero Ronco Pitotti

Red licorice, star anise, and cola on the nose. The palate is quite austere, like a lean and stern red Burgundy. There is a warm depth of fruit that slowly seeps in after a few moments in the mouth, with some lip-smacking cherry emerging. Dry enough as is, but became even drier with a cheese souffle. There's elegance here, I suppose, but it lacks drinkability. It's especially disappointing given the high price tag.
