Room-filling perfume of dark fruits and their liqueurs; violets, lavender, fennel, spicy oak, mocha, bay leaf, grilled sage, cardamom, mint, barbecue, forest floor. Full body, seamless, velvety tannins, ripe and generous with Bordeaux-like balance.

A nice bottle overall. But I was expecting more with the recent reviews. Pours surprisingly dark, with a moderately lean nose and does have some layers of tertiary mature cab flavors, cedar tobacco etc, but ultimately it's not very complex or interesting to me and the fruit is pretty faded.

A 23 year old BV Tapestry Reserve probably has no right to be as good as this one was. Showed much younger than it was. Beautiful balance of fruit, tertiary notes, acid and tannin. Juicy black and red fruit, cassis, wood spice, dried tobacco leaf, dusty tannins, and excellent acidity. Nothing overblown or out of place. A great match for chargrilled rib steaks, sautéed mushrooms, grilled potatoes and a Caprese salad.

This wine showed red currant, cherries, sweet tobacco; and with additional time, cedar, spice, licorice, and a slight note of mint. The tannins are fully resolved, but it maintains nice weight and moderate acidity. The finish was 20+ seconds. It did not fade over the course of 2-3 hours.
