First full bottle of this, having drunk a case of halves. Mid ruby, just a touch of garnet at the rim. An earthy, slightly animale Gevrey with a lightness of touch. Bright, silky, good energy. Very decent. ***1/2

Charming Old school style of wine that is tough to find. Mature black fruits with earth, dark spices, mushroom, and braised meat in complex combination for an entry level wine. On the mature side for a 2010, but right in its sweet spot right now. I haven�t tasted this wine in nearly a decade, and really like it for now. Glad to have a case in the cellar.

22/24. Half. Much more open and giving than the previous days� Haisma. Mid ruby. Attractive lift, just a hint of the VA that has featured in previous halves, but providing more of an earthy cherry gloss to the mid weight red fruit that combines Gevrey meaty earthiness with a touch of animale. This has been consistently attractive in half for a full decade, and remains so. Probably time to look at a full bottle. *** possibly ***1/2

Last bottle - the same as the penultimate last year with a captivating floral rose scent nose, definite violets coming later. Red fruit - currant and strawberry on the nose, but cherry on palate. Silky tannins with long length. Lovely.

Half 21/24. The slight VA lift of my previous half almost three years ago was evident in this one too, but not really enough to detract. Now deep garnet, the ripe glossy fruit of its youth has mellowed in this format and a pleasing animale sous bois character is starting to emerge. More of the traditional Maume character. Good acidity. Very drinkable. Timed just about right to transition from a case of halves to a case of bottles. ***

The overall impression given by this wine is of ripeness and concentration, though it was also fresh and did not seem unbalanced. Plenty of bright strawberry and cherry fruit of a coulis character, a touch of VA, tertiary leather, and plenty of spice towards the sappy finish. Ideally the fruit would be turned down slightly in the mix, but we enjoyed this.

Penultimate bottle - orange rim now, closed nose from pour but starts to expand after 30 mins and in 2 hours really singing. Black fruits and violet type scents, tannins holding structure on the palate but v soft �velvety� maybe, long taste and good finish. Excellent value for a village wine.

For a village wine this is hitting it out of the park. Developing some lovely tertiary notes that were superb with a marinated portobello mushroom straight off the braai. Probably not going to improve from here but definitely in a very happy place.

Decent showing for a village wine, bright, translucent dark ruby, little development; cherry, earth, some meat, hint of refreshing VA; medium bodied, decent length and intensity, bit linear but attractive, nice clean fruit, good for 10 but probably not 20 years. VG+ (16.5).

Half. The glossy fruit of its youth starting to recede to make way for more meaty and autumnal notes. Still a good core of red currant, cherry and raspberry fruit. Densely silky. Finishes well. Lovely. ***

11/12 and really enjoyed this one. Sweet nose, good acid, very mild tannin. Had this after a 96 Angelus and it stood up quite well.

Glad I waited, definitely getting into its stride now. Quite dark ruby. Plenty dark cherry fruits, bit of earthiness, touch of warm spices. Really good balance. Medium length. Bit of tannic backbone but fairly refined now.

Cherry, marzipa. Tannins resolved. Some length. Easy to drink on its own. Like my last note, much improved with age and I drank the others too early. Like the other respondents, still a little underwhelming. The Maume 02 Mazis remains one of the best wines I have ever had the pleasure of tasting.

Tasted over 3 hrs -med dark red faint purple -moderately expressive with just a touch of VA-enhanced lift, cool dark fruits savory and stone -med acidity, med weight taut linear earthy dark fruit, med tannins and a bit of oak on finish -this is OK but frankly a bit disappointing for the vintage and producer

Third bottle I've had of this wine, the previous one being a year ago, and then one a year prior to that. This was showing nicely, with fruit and a touch of spicy oak, but most importantly a glimpse into it's Burdundian soul. The last two bottles were not nearly as enjoyable. A case of the last of my bottles being very much the best.

Pale garnet colour with a bit of a sparkle on pouring after a decent two hour decant. Delicate herbal nose with traces of mint, slightly bretty. Raspberry with white chocolate butteriness on palate Pleasing acidity to the finish.

Not a huge amount to this. Needs 2 hrs+ in decanter and even then, one dimensional nose and body. Reasonably long finish but not much of interest on the way there.
