Wine vinegar anyone? Sad to confirm that this awesome wine went south so quickly.

Drinking window closed significantly since last tasting. Showing dominant raisin undertones.

Another proof that Sagrantino needs time, and 10 years were not enough for this bottle. A bit restrained, but showing a nice spectrum of mature fruit, subtle wood, roast aromas and exotic spices in the background this should be revisited in about 5 years.

Outstanding Sagrantino di Montefalco wine (100 percent Sagrantino) which is on its peak now. A big rich wine, plenty of finesse and structure. Viva Umbria! Has that rustic, bold & big palate that is really quite unique. Can't pair this brute with a sissy meal. Went extraordinarily well with venison osso Bucco. Not a pop and pour -needed a one hour decant. Apparently this grape variety has long-term cellaring potential.

This wine is on the feminine end of the spectrum of sagrantino - especially compared to Bea, Tabarrini, or Milziade Antano. That said it is delicious and, unlike the others mentioned, is not in need of cellaring.

Beautiful Italian wine made 100% with sagrantino grapes. Layers of blackberry, black pepper with big tannins. Fantastic now but will improve with time.
