Dark ruby with slight bricking. Nose of dark cherry, blueberry, plum, spice. Similar on the palate. Good concentration of fruit, some minerality and slight woodiness with smooth tannic structure. Really nice wine. Enjoyed with a charcuterie board.

Italian night : This had a lightness of touch and finesse that marked it out as Barbaresco, though made in a modern-ish style with a premium on dark stone fruits. Quite decadent but still with a most attractive freshness

Is there such a thing as premature oxidation in red wine? This bottle was definitively not shot, but it resembled more closely an 18-20 year old wine than one 9 years old. Color was bricked well past the rim and beginning to lighten. Nose of dried cherry and slightly musty leaves. Medium-full body with somewhat faded fruit and more forest floor notes on palate. Not very tannic. Definitely did not resemble other recent CT notes, though I have a note …

Comparative tasting of Barbaresco & Barolo: The Giulio Grasso Barbaresco Marcarini was lighter in body but more fruit forward than either the 2009 De Forville Lange Nebbiolo or the 2011 Sottimano Barbaresco Cotta. Expressive Nebbiolo aromas and flavors. Even better 48 hrs after opening. Smooth texture, rich dark fruit and soft tannins, with hints of licorice, earthy notes, minerality and nice acidity on the finish. Very approachable now. Should continue to improve with more time in the cellar. Try again …

The wine is clear and bright with a medium garnet colour. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium(+) intensity aromas of oak (cedar, tobacco, cinnamon), pungent spices (black pepper), black fruit (dark plums) and fruit development (cherries in liqueur). The wine is dry in the mouth with a high acidity. It has high fine-grained tannins and a high well-integrated alcohol. It has a medium(+) body and medium(+) intensity flavours of oak (cedar, tobacco), pungent spices (black pepper), black fruit …

Tasted @ Ca del Lupo in Montelupo Albese. First slightly muted nose, opened up with some air. Very classic bouquet of rose and violet petals, some leather, a touch of sweet spices and some raspberries. Medium body with medium acidity and medium tannins. Pretty long. Very classic Barbaresco, more abiut elegance than power. Still requires a few years of bottle-age though.

Disappointed. Pours brownish red. Spicy, not balanced and overall poor wine. I would recommend this to no one. This is the worst Nebbiolo wine I have had.

Il più debole della linea 2007 di Ca' del Baio, più minerale ma anche più scuro e con meno frutto e succosità in bocca degli altri.
