Good and bold and a little European. Expressive fruit but some funk, a little less ripe, I think some herbal notes...a little somethin somethin. I would not guess Calistoga with this wine. Feels more Spain. Maybe that says more about globalization than it does about this expression but that's the news from here.

Tasted over 2 days. This was a gift and I thought it was an Italian wine because I didn't look that closely at the bottle. So when I opened and tasted it, I thought (and commented to my wife) that this didn't really seem to have much Italian character to it at all and tasted very new world/internationally-styled, and she agreed. N: Muted, but seems deep: berries, choc, earth? P: MF body; Almost swtish frt on front, pucker/astringency kicking in mid palate. Very long, youthfully tannic finish, which wasn't at all problematic with dinner.
