Still drinking young (aged 10 years) with vibrant acidity and fruit. Tannins have mellowed slightly and there are earthier notes up front. Really enjoying this. Paired beautifully with a variety of foods including: beets (great for the earthiness), burrata, brussel sprouts, and pappardelle with pork ragu. Going to hold my remaining two bottles a bit longer though I may be tempted to drink now!

Oregon Trip-Day 1 (Here and there, Willamette Valley) : Light dull ruby. Black cherry aroma. Warmer style with lush entry, delicious juicy red fruit and some citricity. Low tannins, long soil finish, quite discrete for being so ripe. Excellent.

Black, red cherry fruit. Seemed unbalanced at first (90 minutes in) with a lack of mid-palate fruit and a somewhat harsh finish. However, at 2+ hours this changed to reveal a more elegant and integrated wine that shows much more promise. Needs more time… 5+ years.

Prior bottle was 10 months ago and this wine is showing beautifully. Nose was virtually identical; classic Oregon with mostly black and some red cherry along with a very pretty forest floor undercurrent. Medium bodied with rounded and expressive black cherry upfront, offset with brighter red cherry highlights. Mid-body is silky and elegant, a clear step above where this wine was previously. Darker black cherry and even some plum come in at this stage, but with excellent roundness. These notes …

Dark berry fruit balanced by medium acid and that woodsy-earthy Pinot funk I do so enjoy. Hint of vanilla? I may be under-rating this. Ken Pahlow at Walter Scott consistently impresses with reds AND whites. It threw shade all over a couple Burgundies on the table...[09' A.F. Gros Pommard 1er Cru Les Pèzerolles (tasty, but simple), 05' Mussy Beaune 1er Cru Montrevenots (raisin-y old, admittedly)]

Iron, medium-ripe black cherry, hint of graphite, nice acid. Like this a lot. In a word, "balanced"; in two more words, "food-friendly". in a good place right now. My palate agrees with RGCM Gananda's note from 2020, saying "what she/he said".

Prior bottle was only four months ago, but this had showed so well in July there was no reason to delay and my notes were consistent. Black and red cherry along with floral notes on the nose. Medium bodied with an essentially unchanged flavor profile of black and red cherry with a good mix of brightness and depth, followed by plum, tart cherry and finishing with minerals and earth. Overall, the wine remains silky and elegant and shows off the …

Black cherry mixed with red cherry highlights and forest floor notes on the nose. Medium bodied (13.6% ABV) with dark red cherry upfront (not quite black) with a very interesting mix of earth, spices and minerals that allows the wine to show some brightness, but real depth and character. As with all Walter Scott pinots, one of the big strengths is balance between fruit and structure, handled deftly here. Pleasantly tart red cherry notes on the backside along with integrated …

Prior bottle was almost exactly one year ago and this wine showed spectacularly. Red cherry mixed with black, red berries and floral notes on the nose. Medium bodied with the same mix of red and black cherry that noted in my prior bottle, perhaps tilting a bit to the red end upfront and definitely going to the black end through the middle. Mid-body has depth and is rounded, silky and elegant. Plum and black cherry are dominant here and then …

Balanced, dark fruit, light touch on the tannins, light-medium body. Burgundian, yet approachable and easy to like.

Enveloping nose of earth, fruit leather, clove and grilled meat. Power and finesse on the palate, with smooth texture and a long finish. Although the stewed fruit character typical of this vintage does emerge somewhat with air, this is easily the best 2014 Willamette Valley pinot I have yet tasted. This would be impressive in any vintage. Outstanding.

Prior bottle was 15 months ago and this wine continues to show beautifully. Black and red cherry, spices and earth notes on the nose. Medium bodied with a mix of bright red cherry and deeper black cherry up front. Adds black raspberry and plum through the middle and then finishes with blackberry and tart black cherry, mineral and earth qualities. The mid-body is truly something special as it shows expressive fruit on an elegant frame while not sacrificing depth or …

Always nice to pop some quality Oregonian Pinot after a string of the usual Cali suspects. Refreshing notes of cedar, black tea and a touch of forest floor complement the intense red fruit profile.

Opened about 90 minutes ahead of time and drunk over the next three hours. Black cherry along with red berries and earth on the nose. Medium bodied (13.5% ABV) but with such depth and density, you might think it's a bigger wine. Bright black cherry and black raspberry upfront, adding plum and a pretty mix of black and red cherry through the middle. Mid-body shows fantastic balance and comes off as silky, polished and elegant. Tart blackberry and black cherry …

Decanted 3 hrs. After having the sublime Cuvée Ann Chardonnay last month, I was eager to try a full bottle of one of the Pintos. Temperance Hill works for me. Like that Chard, this too performs at a very high level, and probably just getting started in its evolution. Think of a hybrid between a Cameron and Brick House. Specially, there some playful funk on the nose and the palate, but subtle, and not a distraction, so we'll call it …

The nose is rich, showing blackberries and brambles filled out with smoky bacon. When tasted, it's juicy and clean. Pure cherries roll out onto the palate. It goes through a cool evolution towards dusty earth on the finish. As these flavors rise to the foreground, the fruit floats above it, keeping things friendly. Very nice.
