This is not one of the better Val di Suga wines that I have tasted. The 2018 is very earthy, and not a great wine. I didn't expect anything great for $18, but I thought that it would drink a lot better.

Also shows some wood on the nose. Stylish across the mid palate. Soft on the mid palate and a little bit chewy, in a good way. Tasty, but I am not seeing the $115 price tag.

Had this wine blind as my friend brought it to a dinner party which we blinded many wines that night and got 5 out of 6. SIGHT: very Light ruby Beaujolais Noveau level light with orange reflections. NOSE: A straightforward nose of ripe Cherry and Strawberries woth a touch of spice smells good. TASTE: MEDIUM+ acid and medium tannins that do nothing grip drinks very easy. This is like Pinot noir how it drinks almost but unmistakably has the Tuscan …

tawny, color moved to the center, rusty color is fading, nose is butterscotch, carmelized, maybe too old but not repulsive, fruit is gone, musty, can taste the sangiovese, soft smooth tannins, very drying out aspect, light taste, watery and somewhat bland, not complex,

Some tar , lavender scented soap , rich black sweet fruits with powdery tannins. Enjoyable at the start with big bosoms and low cut dress but won't last long. Slightly inkish but stroNg perfume

Brought to restaurant with another couple, and only decanted about 45 minutes. Suspect it needed another hour at minimum, but showed beautifully with an opaque purple color, wonderous nose of tobacco, dark cherry and earth. Initial palate showed graphite, leather and subdued black fruit, which evolved in glass to exhibit more black cherry and some background spice. Long, memorable finish. Another couple of years in the bottle would also be beneficial, as this wine is clearly built for long ageing. …

Funky alcoholic nose on opening. Very rough first couple of hours. Mellowed out finally. Drank next day after decanting and was fabulous tins of different scents flavors

Needs good 2hrs of decanting before showing its stuff. First you get earth, meat, leather, tobacco, which is expected from a 10yo wine. But after a bit violets, cherries, and some ripe fruit also shows up progressively. Still has good tannins that can get smoother with extra time. Refreshing acidity. I will decant next bottle a lot more.

In the glass a ruby core with slight bricking at the rim of the glass. Scents of lilacs, tar, granite, cranberries, and cedar. In the mouth there are still considerable tannins with flavors of dried red fruits, chalk, and minerals along a medium length finish.

Montalcino trip / Italian offline 2009; 5/14/2009-5/16/2009 (Montalcino) : Dark ruby colour. Full aromas of ripe black fruit and leather with hints of anise(?). Full bodied with very chewy tannins and dark fruit. Medium-long finish. Could still use a lot of time, not sure if the tannins will easy down though. Drink 2014 - 2020.

After a 4 hour decant, this wine was alive with black cherry, tar, chocolate on a long finish with good acidity.

Montreal BDM 1999 Tasting @ Christophe(wineSpec Montreal forumites) (Chez Christophe, Montreal, Canada) : Lots of earth and and blackberries and plums on this wine. More earthy than the other brunellos with a good structure. Lots of originality. Long finish.(my notes are short on this wine)

Martin Scott Wines Portfolio Event (New York City) : Medium ruby to tawny color. Very complex nose of dusty spice, saddle leather, tart black cherry and orange peel. Great structure on the palate, long and complex. Delicious.
