Aside from the Sauternes-like color, this is still going strong. Tension between sweetness and the savory qualities of salty, dry minerality with good acidity accenting the latter elements. I’m sensing this is just crossing over the crest of the hill of peak drinking.

Far and away the best quality in such an inexpensive wine that I can remember!!! Everything I’d expect in the absolute best top shelf Rieslings in such a modest bottling. I don't drink much white. But when I do it's often Riesling. But this is my first aged and I must say - WOW!!! This is faboulous! This just hit every note with me. Sweet, sour and everything else you want in a wine. Best white I ever had. 92

Bottled under screwcap; very lightly golden colored; very showy nose of lime, kiwi, crushed stone with just enough hints of TDN's "petrol" effect to add complexity; perfect levels of acidity to enhance the "sweet v. savory" tension I so often love in great German rieslings. Probably two years too soon to enjoy the best of this fine kabinett. For a 2004 surprisingly still a little sweet, as Loosen's wines can be when young. Fine balance, floral nose and off-dry exotic fruit taste with the usual petrol and refined cumquat flavor. Full finish. LEtting it sit for 3 weeks vacu-vined.

Begining its journey into sous bois and dryiness. Just a touch akward now, but that isn't saying anything bad about the wine. I would wait two more years and try again. Very enjoyable.

Wine 5 of Dr. Loosen Tasting with Ernst Loosen: A light hint of petrol on the nose. Peaches and apples. Some spring blossoms. Some mineral and slate notes. Subtle apricot and honeysuckle. A more velvety mouthfeel and fuller body. Still has zingy acidity. A nice honey undertone. Really super long finish of apricots.

Lots of citrus on the nose, plus green grapes, and something elusive, that reminds me of certain dessert wines, old champagnes and maybe even tea. It's ever so slightly tingly (fine bubbles were apparent on pouring, sweet, fruity and balanced. This is excellent stuff, very approachable. Acid and sugar are well-matched. Like a good dessert wine, but much lighter, both in texture and alcohol. A style I enjoy.

Nose has a petrol component plus citrus and some floral character. Lime and banana, tuttifrutti on the palate, the fruits are intense and fleeting with a wonderful crisp and dry finish. Mouthfeel is fantastic, sometting like rainbow sherbert. Very "unsweet" for a 7.5 abv wine. We don't have a lot of experience with riesling, but this is a great wine...90-91 for us.
