PnP. ABV 13%. Color was very dark, hardly any development. Cabernet Franc’s floral nose with a bit of muddy earth notes too. Bright acidity, still plenty of tannins, firm mid-palate, almost dry. Not yet reached maturity plateau but approachable now. Some bitterness and burnt cigarette at backend. Decent drink but not as good as previous experiences with this vintage, probably better with some foods. Improved a little bit by the 2nd glass, decanting is highly recommended. The nose was absolutely …

Open from the start, but develops more complexity with air. Licorice, caraway , and maybe a hint of brett on the nose. Dark, plummy fruit with some background cherry. Lots of earthy nuance and an ashy note. Medium weight with tannins that are mostly resolved; the texture shows some finesse. Good length. Ready to go, and doesn’t disappoint.

Surprisingly young. To be honest it is a great time to drink it now. After the initial ocassionaly spikey alcohol and tannins has cleared off. The structure is great. Will probably last for another 5 years but I feel it is good to drink now where you can taste the transition.

That is a youngster of 12 YO...needs aeration, but still shows a good balance of light oak presence, with earthy cab character, the palate is still powerful, and is of great length, gets better after an hour with dark chocolate, cocoa, and a bit of red orange stylish nose... Really enjoyable on day two as the slight harshness of D1 is gone... decanter an hour it should give you real pleasure. Can hold still 3/5 easily

Cabernet Franc funk on the nose. Still dark garnet in color, no sign of aging on the rim. Plenty of tannins on the mid-palate, touch dry. Approachable now but yet to hit mature plateau. ABV 13% with just a touch warmth at backend, no over-extraction or excessive alcohol despite the vintage. Good length and complexity, this has to be one of the best QPR Cab Franc wine. Become somehow more tannic few hours later...hmmmm. Tannins soften on the 2nd day, …

Dark and brooding, this is heavy with bloody, gamey notes and forest floor aromas. Muddy earth (in a good way!). The palate has lighter, delicate red fruits and fresher acidity than the nose would suggest. This is well balanced and well made, and with plenty of time ahead of it. Perfect with game and the like. Very good

Mooi volle wijn, blind geproefd. Zou gedacht hebben dat het een typische bordeaux blend was.

I'm fond of this. Tannins are nearly resolved but there's no rush to drink since it still has years ahead of it. T likes too and tasty with venison.

Funk of Cab Franc with hints on mud on the nose, not very expressive. Sweet and smooth on entry, tannins yet to resolve but approachable. Notes of wet earth, black olive, dark plums with oaks at finish. Good length and no heat at finish, good balance. ABV13%. Well made wine and good QPR.

Lovely wine with very fine tannin structure. Needs a few more years to fully open.

Casual Cabernet Franc : Leather and blackcurrant, cherry, meat and perfume. Palate is well balanced, there is a good spice element that lifts the interest of the red fruit. Savory and consistent across its length.

Bien, fruit mûr, un côté terrien de cabernet franc avec une vraie profondeur. Le deuxième jour, presque des accents bordelais. Bon niveau, même s'il manque un brin d'éclat pour briller plus haut.

just way too young. Nose of cedar, tomato leaf, earth. Nice palate of gritty tannins, good acidity, good weight, well balanced. All round good but would probably offer more with age

Loire Valley Masterclass and Tasting : Nicely perfumed with earth and ash with some funky meatiness. Has some red fruit on the palate with a nice savoury streak throughout. Interesting wine.

rotting mushroom, sour fruits - berries, redccurrant, underripe blackberry, violets, Maraschino cherry; some flesh but lots of acid cut and slightly sour - strange for a 2009, tannins float front-mid pal then become astringent in back palate, chalky and chewy, nice but not as complex as it could be - perhaps needs another 5 years?

Delicious stuff. Floral, good balance, multi-layered and long finish with a great price tag. What else can you ask for?

Unlike the 09' Benard Baudry La Croix Boisse tasted yesterday, the nose here is floral and CLEAN. Sweet and smooth on entry, firm mid-palate with ever so slight warmth at finish. Notes of violet, forest floor, plum, dark cherry, and oak. This does not have the length or the structure of La Croix Boisse but has better balance at this stage. This is delicious now. When fruits fade on 2nd day, more prominant tannins and oak but still maintain good …

Mittlerer rauher Abgang. Klarer Kauf.

a slightly animal edge (Moi gets it more, whereas I get more of a vegetal edge), woods, a wild kind of spearmint, some currant-like fruit underneath (next day was reasonably swete yet savoury blackcurrant), lovely nose; great balance, silty/sandy grainy tannins with a good whack of astringency on the front and mid palate, suitable acidity, plenty of drying gripping tannins, refreshingly tannic, delcious, harmonious, a great Bourgueil! Would love to see where it is in 5 years time.

Mostly Loire Wines (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.) : Big vibrant purple color. The aromas are thick and savory, with black cherry, potting soil, chewing tobacco, olive tapenade. The palate is rich and compact, demonstrating its youth. Dense tannins, rich black cherry fruit. Black olives and iron linger on the finish. I tasted this blind and knew it was a Yannick Amirault Bourgueil because I've had so many of them. Amirault has such a great combination of dense fruit and …
