Les Arbillons Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine Rouge

Quick decant. Nose of juniper, dark wild berry, and barnyard. Palate has a spice-driven start, followed by sappy wild blueberry, red fruit accents, and strong acidity. Broad, rustic tannins with pluot, crunchy red fruit, river stones, and cherry pit. Lots of flavor, if not finesse.

Drank a bit chilled (in kitchen refrigerator) so the aromas were more muted - mostly red fruit. Strong acidity and rough but pleasant tannins - again mostly red fruit: stewed strawberry, cranberry. Nice texture. Overall, a table wine with more! It is interesting and made with care, it rises above its station.

Aromas of violet, blood orange, and raspberry. On the tongue, it's very plush and Juicy with raspberry, blackberry, Indian spices, saline, chalky tannins, and menthol on the finish.

Dark ruby colour. Dark berry nose with a liqueur-like fruit reduction. Medium-full bodied palate that is spiced with well-mannered tannins; ripe, with solid fruit and a toasty black cherry finish. 4/5
