A touch of oxidation on the nose, and rather sickly sweet fruit on the palate. Not a great wine, but maybe OK for the price point. Could be a bum bottle.

Slightly disappointing colour for a Nero D'Avola, easy to see through. Colosi's effort bears an intense and fruity nose of ripe morello cherries, plums and herbs. Palate also offers a lot of fruit that has quite some tendency towards the sweet side but never drifts off into blunt stickiness as it is accompanied by some well-balanced acidity as well as light and smoothed out tannins which unfortunately tend to get a bit mushy towards the finish. Overall a decent table …

Such a great QPR. So inexpensive and yet so good for the money. I drink Nero all the time and really like this one.

A lot of fruit but not jammy. A great weekday wine and great expression of Sicilian wine.

No formal notes. Simple, fruit and herb, easy drinking, was a passable accompaniment at BYOB Italian restaurant.

So far, it has paired beautifully with bolognese sauce, chicken livers scented with lemon and truffle oil, and 60-hour tsukemen, and I'm starting to wonder if there's anything it can't do. Off dry with pleasant dark fruit and a little spice. If you like Zinfandel--do.

Too sugary sweet for my individual taste. Reminded me of kids' cherry juice boxes.

Fruity deliciousness. Stays on the tongue all the way through the finish. Slightly lighter than a barbera but similar flavor profile - blackberry predominant and light mocha hints. Wonderful wine particularly with heavier meat dishes.

Flowers, red vines and vanilla on the nose. Nice structure, with a silky mouthfeel. Cherry and blueberry on the palate. Medium bodied with a nice lengthy finish. Paired with pasta with red sauce and linguica sausage, might be even better with thin crust pizza.

Simple. Was nice to drink in terms of taste of fruit and a bit of minerality, but this does not hold much else. I like Nero D' Avola a lot, for the price, often the best QPR around, especially when it gives you a strong sense of Sicilian place...This one did not carry much sense of place with it; not much to ponder when drinking. However, cannot argue with it having some enjoyment factor when it comes to taste.

Decent table wine, if a bit ripe.

A rustic mix of dark, verging on raisined fruit and a mild herbaceousness with med/high acidity and strident tannin. A simple, reasonably drinkable table wine. Taste like a ripe Barbera or Primitivo.

Initial impressions were not positive, but improved significantly with air. Comfortable wine.

Initially a little acerbic but left to decant it did settle down. dark berry fruit and green pepper (would have guessed SA carmenere if tasting blind). Integrated, leaning toward acidic. Short - medium finish.

Overall nice example of this regions wine and varietal expression - what i would expect, but perhaps a tad young and verging off dry. Nose has nice dark yet vibrant fruit. Palate has zippy acidity and lots of fruit - blackcherry, and other berry notes. Tasty, but again, a touch off dry. Finish was not as long as one would like, but that is ok. Will put a couple on shelf for next couple of years.

The Collosi Nero d'Avola is medium bodied, ruby hued wine with a distinctly orange/pink rim. The nose is restrained with white lily, black cherry and raspberry. Full in the mouth, with tastes of juicy black cherry and red raspberry, with enough acidity to keep it lively. The finish fades surprisingly fast with more black cherry and red raspberry.

Very pleasant, nicely priced, Nero d'Avola. Dark garnet color. Nose of berries & tar and earth. Palate - blackberries, blueberries, spice, brambles. Great food wine. 14% alco (D 7, F 5.5; Pine; Vias)

A good find. Dark ruby red color with a very ripe fruity nose. Ripe fruit continues on the palate with chocolatey cherry flavors and some nice pepper on the finish. Medium-bodied and well-balanced with a medium-length finish. Priced at $12, this is a nice value. To me, this seems to be a perfect pizza wine.
