Past prime but still quite enjoyable. Rounded tannins, smooth, dark berries, but not quite enough there with much of the fruit faded. Should have consumed a few years ago but part of a mini vertical that had outlasted the winery itself.

Day 2: This is signing. Nice fruit featuring blueberries, plum and cherry. Also featuring smoke, coffee beans, menthol, spice and floral. Medium plus finish. Should drink well for 5 more years. Day 3: Blueberries, menthol, spice, coffee beans, minerals, dark cherries and floral notes. Medium to long finish. In a perfect spot at 10 years of age. 93 points Day 4: Still excellent. Day 1: Rocking wine right now. 10 years and in fine form. Cherry, blueberries, menthol, coffee beans, spice, dust and earth. This is the best wine of the many I bought of this and the last 3 will age less shortly as this is so good. $20 closeout wine from Big Top who unfortunately is no longer in business in the Twin Cities. 94 points Day 2: More Bordeaux like than day 1. Features gravel, earth, dust, blue currants, menthol …

This bottle drank very differently than last years. Tons of sediment. Perfect cork but fruit is gone and the wine tasted stewed. Never came around. Had to open something else as this was unsatisfactory. Bummer

Charity Wine Event Minneapolis (Minneapolis, MN) : Hey in a blind tasting of average wine drinkers this lost badly to the 2018 Ste. Michelle Indian Wells. Cigar, earth, dust, red currants and floral notes. Medium plus finish. Solid again.

Day 2: Amazing value from the old Big Top in Minneapolis. Won't tell you what I paid for it. Perfect drinking window featuring minerals, blueberries, spice, earth, dark chocolate and dust. Medium finish and drinking well. (Natural Cork) 92 points Day 3: Amazing again. Has not lost a beat. Nice fruit, spices, earth, chocolate and dust. A tremendous value from Big Top in St. Paul Closeout Bins. I miss you guys! 92 points Recommendation: If consuming now decant one hour …

Definitely decant - this started to pop after about an hour. Not the most complex wine, but well made and enjoyable. I don't remember what I paid for it at the winery on release; this was a "found bottle" I forgot to log and recently discovered when I moved my collection. But the current auction price represents good QPR.

Day 1: Some age has helped this wine on day 1. Really nice showing with blueberries, coffee beans, mint, savory meat, spice and minerals. Rounding into form and an excellent value. 93 points Day 2: Tiny red berries, coffee beans, spice, minerals, blueberries and roasted meat. Good concentration and nice finish. Excellent place right now but could cellar another 5/6 years. 92 points

Day 1: A bit tight. No score. Day 2: Hello and thanks for waiting. Chocolate, blueberries, spice, oak, vanilla and underbrush. Big wine and powerful finish. Picks up some floral notes on the long finish. Plenty of life left here. 93 points Day 3: Holding form. For sure some evident oak but the fruit is the real star here. 93 points. Recommendation: Heavy decant or hold for a few years.

Getting better with age. Wonderful nose of dark fruit and spice. Medium to full bodied, the dark fruit continues and is well balanced and layered. More nuance is emerging now, very enjoyable. The finish is smooth and holds well. At eight years old, it's coming into its own.

Out of the bottle. No bricking of which to speak. Braised meat and acrylic paint fumes on the nose. Fast thin legs. Nice cab appearance. Some florals on the nose as well. Tannins and alcohol well integrated. Very short but clean finish. At the same time if ya breath out a few times, flavor appears in the nose. Meat and terroir on the palate. Still drinking quite nicely. Second day: lavender and bees’ wax on the nose. Rich full dark …

This was the 5th bottle that I have opened out of the 6 bottles I picked up in the fall of 2016 and the best, by far, of them all. This wine is in a beautiful spot right now. Lovely fruit aromas, velvety mouthfeel and incredibly sweet tannin. Now I wish I had held on to the previous 4 a little longer. Oh well, hind sight is 20/20 and I still have 1 left.

Nice but not much more than that. Pleasant but not memorable. I would view this as a wine to drink in the near term. I don’t see it getting markedly better with more time. All makes sense at the $25/bottle level I have invested in it.

Balanced and easy to drink. Enjoyable but nothing like the 1999 or 2001 vintage. This one has become more mass produced and despite the good quality it does not have the uniqueness of prior vintages.

Balanced out after the years but still has a nice nose with plenty of wood flavors with the fruit in the background. Strawberry preserves on the nose sneaks in after opening up. Honestly to me it's got another few years left alas not for me as this is the last one...

“Heavy” nose of dark berry/fruit. Serious hit of cassis on the tongue—a touch “sweetish.” Tannin and acid are, very much, resolved making this a very easy wine to drink without solid food accompaniment. I like it.

Pop and pour here: Nice strawberry jam and soft rubber on the nose. Well structured body with integrated tannins and a touch of acidity. Dark chocolate covered cherries on the mid-palate and stewed fruit on the edge with toasted almonds on the finish. I'm happy to settle back with this baby tonight.

Wow. Layers of flavors - still shows a bit of fruit characteristics, but the secondary flavors are starting to show - some earthiness and leather underlies the fruit. This was great - paired incredible with a grilled, bone-in new york strip. Wish I had more to try over the next couple of years.
