Frédéric Puffeney Pinot Noir Arbois

Yet again, compared to the very first bottle a couple years ago, this was more muted, less expressive, and with less evidence of lovely white pepper. It seems to be fading. Still, enjoyable enough over three nights.

Light ruby red color. Some reduction evident on the nose but it does blow off with some air. After that there's an intriguing savory spiciness to the wine, with soft red fruit emerging after the wine warms up a bit in the glass. The funk is ever present though. Interesting stuff.

Not quite as enjoyable as we remember it from April -- it seemed more muted, less expressive, less white pepper -- but still quite nice over three nights.

Light ruby, translucent at the edges. A lovely and beguiling savory character, with a very slight hint of smoke or roasted brush. A bit of white pepper. Fine balance, perfect acidity. Good finish. This was a very pleasant surprise, and quite enjoyable over three nights.
