Domaine Pierre Savoye Morgon Côte du Py Vieilles Vignes

Beautiful nose, more strict on the palate. Difficult style, but I like it. Very lean, just ripe fruit. You should drink this now, will not last much longer. Medium+ intense aromas of red cherry, raspberry, unripe strawberry, forest floor, toast, espresso, yoghurt, leather, tobacco leaves, wet iron. Dry wine, high acidity, medium- and supple tannins, medium+ flavour intensity, long finish. Vertical tasting @ Le Vineur

Nose pretty good some red fruits and roses but palate is drying out and finish as well. A bit of stink. Nose - 4.5/6, Palate - 4/6, Finish - 3.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 0.5/2 = 12.5/20.

Le Vineur Tasting (Winefield's, Amsterdam, NL) : Tasting, brief note. Mature, powerful but tannic and drying.

Tasted against the 2014 version. Transparent brick color. Very little fruit left but similar minerality and tannin which makes it quite earthy tasting and even tarry. Interesting wine but I was less than thrilled.

Medium depth; Round fruit; Lacks the clarity of a better Beaujolais

Earthy and rustic tasting Morgon. Fruit has largely faded. Time to drink this.

Cherry, strawberry, orange peel, leather. Full flavor in a light body. (Does Cru Beaujolais ever fail?)

Cork in perfect condition. The wine is a slightly dull ruby color. Nose: Red currants, strawberries and cherries, still bright but with some dried aspects, still lots of life, some tobacco, graphite, tar and dried violets. Palate: medium acid, fine tannins but a bit harsh around the edges, slight bitterness. Tart red apple peel, strawberries (a bit green and crunchy around the edges). A juicy, tangy approach, refined, a bit subtle but still lively. Nice graphite, pencil lead, some bay …

Fragrant aroma of berries. Pure, clean palate of strawberries and lemon. Tart, full finish. Well balanced, attractive. Nice easy drinking bojo with enough depth and complexity to keep one interested while waiting for the '09's to come around.
