Classic Lewis Cellars. Big, fruity. Took about 30 minutes to open. Delicious. A bit hot.

Picked this up at the winery years ago and cellared it since. Deep, inky color with a medium body, but no legs. The palate feels flat—maybe more time could bring something back, but right now it’s clearly past its peak.

It’s been a little over a year since we had a Lewis Cabernet and I had forgotten how enjoyable they are. Big and fruit-forward with lots of blackberry and cassis, vanilla, and cedar, the wine is a touch monolithic but so smooth. Lots of power, but in an elegant wrapping. A big, ripe styled-wine that won’t appeal to all, but well-made in its style. Glad that we have several more bottles. Drank over 2 hours during which time, the wine …

I let it breathe for 2 hours. Polished tannins. Blackberry and chocolate notes. A nice, long, juicy finish.

Still seemed heavy, over-extracted after 20 years; got bell pepper, thick mouthfeel, lots of tannins not yet integrated

PNP. Inky purple color, impressive legs. Ripe fruit, led by currant, licorice. Medium finish. Alcohol is evident. While pleasant enough, there are few dinfinguishing characteristics. I found it slightly cloying. Unlikely to improve imo.

R's Birthday Dinner (EBCC) : Double blind. Notes of cassis, blueberry, green tobacco, Asian spice and cardamom. Tannins are beginning to integrate. Full-bodied. Flavors of black fruit, chocolate and vanilla. Medium+ finish. Guessed 2013 Napa cabernet. (Doc)

Big plum and blackberry fruit tilting towards liqueur with substantial oak influence. A few hours of air did tame the oak notes some. I think there’s some quality fruit here, but not much in the way of development or depth. Well stored since 2016.

P&P which was a mistake as it was not giving much: lovely the next day with pure and deep fruit (black raspberry), bright acidity, length.

STILL … We still love this wine as it has matured since year ago, opaque purple in color with slight bouquet 💐; thought wine was sweeter with raspberry currant along with dark currants and less chocolate than a year ago. Sweet tannins and tasty … yummy … so we drank two … AND NOW WE HAVE NO MORE! 😥

Drank with neighbors. Pop and pour. Nose of tar and black fruit. Smooth and well integrated. Would score higher if not for the alcohol heat

A very pretty nose and then flavors of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, cedar, licorice and then you are met with bitter tannins. I let this sit for 5 hours and tried again and while the bitterness resolved somewhat it was still to much to get over. I tried this again 24 hours later and still could not get over the bitter tannins. This made no sense to me as the wine is 9 years old and 2014's in general were not …

Cherry aromas. Extremely long mouth watering finish of blackberry and raspberry with integrated tannins. Balanced while allowing the higher alcohol level to show through. Lots of sediment remaining in the bottle

Dark berries, hint of chocolate. Nicely made wine. 15.5% abv and the alcohol is noticeable but not distracting. Took 2 hrs to open up. An absolute mountain of sediment, so decant before serving. Not sure its worth the tariff at current prices ($275).

Opened up after 30-45 minutes. Nose was floral with some earthy notes and Black cherry. Palate was lush with dark raspberry and currant, some black cherry and an expressive chocolate note. The tannins were firm and smooth leaving a long finish with some espresso and dark chocolate notes. A delight to drink!

Purple--more towards blue than red--in color. Bright flowery nose. Very much CS dark fruit on the tongue. A suggestion of licorice but only a suggestion. A big wine with still sturdy tannin. A sensation under the rear palate that I'm sure would have been described as "road tar" 15-20 years ago. You don't hear that descriptor, these days. Fads come and fads go. Good hearty wine like this, however, will always be appreciated.

Oak barrel nose with black fruit, juniper, and rich loamy soil aromas. Chocolate, black cherry, and black fruits along with caramel and creme brulee form a rich and decadent palate, flashing the 15.5% alcohol. Fat, chewy tannins with cedar, espresso, dark plum and peppery earth, finishing long with vanilla and oak.

Really benefits from 1-2 hours of air, ready for business but should continue to drink well for 5+ years. Rich, complex, black cherry, mocha, blackberry and vanilla notes, full bodied, and plush.

I have enjoyed Lewis wines for some years, but this bottle had a pronounced stewed fruit character. It was not flawed and you could make out a few the great Lewis qualities, but it was funky/unbalanced. Perhaps it was picked late. It was up against a 2005 Carraudes de Lafite, which was the WOTN.

toasted oak, chocolate, blackberries, plum, licorice, black currant and a hint of tobacco leaf ripe, lush, smooth mouthfeel and fine tannin. really a great wine, although with Lewis wines the fruit is a tad bigger and acidity is generally lower. I would drink this now and not let it go past 10-12 years to be fairly honest, my personal experience though.

This wine is outstanding. My 96 rating is conservative. The wine is opaque dark ruby color, full bodied, silky smooth, wonderful balance of tannins and oak and alcohol, rich plum and blackberry flavors, long finish. I did not decant for my first taste. It was ready to drink immediately after the cork was pulled. I will let it breathe for an hour and give it a chance to improve. How can it? Will let you know.

Another terrific Cab from Lewis. Big, dark, plum like fruit with blackberry notes, chocolate, cassis. This Cab is rich, full bodied with an amazing finish that goes on and on. This needs an hour decant to fully enjoy and it actually drinks better with a slight chill below room temperature.

Decanted and enjoyed over several hours. Dark purple in the glass. Lovely nose. Some blackberry preserves, blueberry, sweet cigar box, gravel, cocoa spice, deep and rich without a trace of heat. Incredible concentration of pure black fruit on the palate. Blackberry, black cherry, black licorice, ripe but balanced with acidity. Texture is very, very fine silk. Incredibly alive. Iron fist meet velvet glove.

This wine of the year 2016 lived up to its accolades. Uncorked for my birthday and it was really a treat. The nose was all dark fruit with a nuance of floral or sweet spice and the flavor profile was all cassis with well rounded tannins with a beautiful long finish with a little leather and more dark fruit.
