PnP the 2-hr decant. There’s a ton of tempered strawberry fruit, lime, bitter slate, sappy acid. but to me there’s this wall in the front third of the palate that makes it … hard to drink. I can only say that in 5 to 7 years this will either be miraculous or kaput. 2030- Better at lunch the next day. Give this plenty of air.

Deep ruby color. Towering nose of red fruit, spice, game, violet, and soil. Full body, with great structure and presence, and integrated tannins. Very long finish. This feels very young still.

Excellent. A bit of barnyard funk on the nose, albeit with some nice raspberry there too, but big fruit palate that lingers. Got better and better in the glass. Drinking great.

These 2005 red Burgundies continue to test my patience. You can taste the potential, but they're just simply not there yet. I thought this village-level Vosne-Romanée example from Domaine Perrot-Minot might be closer to showing us the stature of this heralded vintage, but it was a little restrained on the night despite three hours of slow oxidising. Beautiful example of pinot drinking window deca ted for one hour Dense with fruit but not overpowering like an American fruit bomb. Burgundian subtlety. Slight alcohol taste Last bottle...boohoo

Tasted semi blind because I knew it was a Burgundy and 2005. Rather dark, velvety, notes of blackberry. Dry but fat tannins.

Perrot-Minot 2001-2005 Tasting (Chicagoland IL) : Densely packed and structured black fruit with so much power, still on the firm side. No fear of fading anytime soon, probably further upside from here.

Incredibly youthful no rust or orange; still has primary characteristics, though beginning to show tertiary characteristics. Delicate bouquet. incredibly, only $115 out of half bottle at Nepenthe in Big Sur, which had an incredible wine list. Dusty fruit on the palate showing plenty of power; very long finish. 5-12-17-8: 92/100

Granted I did not give this a lot of time to come to temperature and breathe after taking it out of the cellar, but the wine was disappointing. A green vegetal nose and tight construction that refused to open up, even after an hour in the glass.

2 oz pour. Not decanted. I smelled VA on it. Some said it was fine. I wasn't so sure. Even taste was dirty. To me, flawed. Hard to judge.

Domaine Perrot-Minot Tasting/Dinner with Some Other Great Burgundy from DNS (The Bristol - Chicago IL) : Open 3 hours before serving alongside the 2006 vintage. Black fruit with subtle spice. Very good now, slightly more foursquare vs the 2006.

Tasting this wine I became desperate, was this the wine I promised a great future some years ago? Finally the third day the wine showed more than a glimp of the expected quality. Still a modest bouquet, but finally a juicy style. I have hopes for the future; let's retaste this wine.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL) : Tasted double blind. Lush black fruit with very accessible aromas and flavors. Soft velvety structure with fairly exotic spice. Clearly identifiable as Burgundy, but not very Gevrey or 2005 to me. Already entering its peak drinking window.

As other tasters say 'chocolate'; which is a bit uncommon in a vosne. This 2005 vintage shows a lot of power with a somewhat closed bouquet and taste; not giving all at the moment. The wine has a great future when the wine opens (in 3-4 years?). I think I will end as a 95 points wine. Next 2005, the Mazoyères??

Ruby red with brick trim. Displays intense aromas of ripe cherries and blackberries giving way to a very spicy character, notes of black pepper and maybe some clove, very well integrated toasted notes, vanilla and cinnamon. Very elegant, intense and full of personality. Potent attack, powerful in the mouth, great acidity, superb balance and structure, very long, intense and complex finish.
