Hobel, Engelhard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Is this a four square Napa cab? No, it somewhat reaches beyond that and frankly evokes in me a nostalgia for the early 10s. A great wine to enjoy with lamb.

With Lamb loin chops…. Very smooth and red fruited with some underlying glycerin, light chocolate and pencil lead, red current/cranberry sweetness. Tannins seem to be resolved. Don’t know where this is headed but probably should drink by 2025. Loved it but My score is low as the finish was just a bit short.

Fairly dark fruited and herbal on the nose. Plums and black currant mixed with eucalyptus and cigar box. Silky, well integrated tannings, good depth of fruit, albeit a bit ripe, almost sweet on the palate. Good acidity to balance it all out. Drinking at peak, but can likely hold it there for 1-2 years. Wouldn’t hold onto it for the long haul.

Last bottle was much more impressive. Still excellent nose, but the paplate was much thinner. This drank more like a cool climate zin with bright red fruit and decent acidity. Wouldn't have guessed Napa cab

Decanted 3 hours and was just awesome. Tannins are tame, fruits are still solid on the palate.

TRB worked wonders with this vintage. decanted 2 hours and consumed over the next 2. silky smooth tannins that are a bit sweet. blue and red fruit. really intense aromatics.

Really Solid Napa Cab - very smooth tannins. Bright raspberry fruit on the front by a blend of sweet and savory flavor a in the finish. Such a well made bottle.

Loved it. Delivered a lot of robust cab fruit but has a great cut of acidity to keep it fresh. Both C and I kept coming back to that... fresh. Drinking very well right now, will be hard pressed to not finish off our last bottle soon.

Wine for Passover 2015; 4/4/2015-4/5/2015 (Our home) : Drinking well. Purple in color. The nose has cassis, oak and a slight bit of an herbal note. On the palate, there is a nice juicy acidity. Medium tannins. Worked well with food. Got a lot of compliments.

Drank over a couple hours. Was very good right from the start but did improve with air time. I'd agree with the others and give this a nice decant. Bold ripe fruit was unexpected for the year. Overall just a really nice cab and I wish I had more.

Big and brawny on the nose with some horse sweat and cranberries. The palate is deep but bright with ripe berries and a little beef. Delicious

This wine needs serious decanting. From a cooler vintage, I initially thought that this was just a lighter style, but the next day, this was super opulent, rich and just plain awesome. So if you want to drink this now, I would suggest 4-6 hours cold decanting

Right out of the gate bright red fruit, strawberry, ripe cherry. A couple hours slo ox bring out more creamy oak, vanilla, and brown sugar notes. Some gentle hints of smoke and toast. Pop and pour and served with food (roast pork and gravy). Upon first opening, I get a nose of yeast, like opening a packet of Fleischmann's Dry Active yeast and pouring it into a bowl of warm water to proof. Then it blows off. Beautiful infant here. Slow ox'd for 2-1/2 hours and drank over the course of 3 hours. Nice, deep fruit on the palate, with a dash of vanilla at times. Very elegant and will definitely continue to improve in due time. Glad I have others to revisit. (93-95 potential)
