I wish I could still buy this wine, but every vintage since '18 has been unavailable to me.

Showing very well already, still has some tannin to shed and not as profound as the single vineyard wines but very good.

Another wine from my late father’s cellar, where he bought for several vintages, but never opened a bottle. This is a ripe Napa Cabernet in miniature. There’s some super-ripe berry fruit that comes across as silky and plush, but it doesn’t succumb to the cloying. There’s enough structure to hold it together, and served at a cool 64 degrees or so the alcohol doesn’t poke through. It’s not a style I pursue, but it’s certainly worth drinking after a workday …

Really great. Open and ready to go. Feminine with red fruits and balanced throughout. Wonderful QPR and has come into its own.

Realy great wine, that I think is ready to go. We did a quick decant right back into the bottle and then let sit in the bottle for around 30 minutes. Delicious blue fruit with a nice finish (although maybe a bit shorter than the top tier. The bottle sat open for a few hours while we were hanging out before corking to enjoy the next night, and it had lost a bit of fruit when we drank the next …

It’s still early. Drank this PnP and it’s still pretty burly. I’m happy I have four left and will give my other bottles another year.

PnP, dark red and black fruit, red currants, baking spices, vanilla, silky smooth. Could use another two years.

Really enjoyed this wine. Has improved since my last bottle in October 2020. Little bit of spice, good tension, good value. Paired well with a homemade meatball soup.

Drank over 2 nights Day 1 it was a bit closed but still enjotable. Day 2 It had just great tension, balance between tannins, fruit and acidity. Saddle leather or maybe saddle soap and leather on the nose. What really nice about this wine is that is powerful without being over fruit forward and the fruit that is there is not primary even at this early age. Not as oak dominated as mant young Napa Cabs. The fruit profile is …

Drank over four days. Night one sat in the glass for just over an hour and was delicious. Black fruits on the approach, Strong tannin, on mid palate, and a nice long finish. Everything came together on night two, and was delicious. I missed night three, but still very enjoyable on night four but a bit more subdued in all aspects. It’s ready to go with a decant, but I’m going to try to hold as far as possible into …

PnP which I know should be decanted but fun little Tuesday night Abreu Rothwell Hyde, Pott 2018 and Separate Among Equals. Fun playing with tastes of all three wines. This was the most austere of the three with a very lite nose and the most structure (which makes sense since it’s a 2018. Solid value that could still use a couple of years to soften.

Based on other notes, you’d think I’d know better than to PNP this later in the evening…but it pleasantly surprised after 30 minutes in glass and really settled in after an hour. I’d happily open another with a decant. Paired well with the sofa and movie night after a long day poolside, but the next one will go with some red meat - it’s got enough grip for a ribeye or strip.

Similar to other notes, this is a wine that needs to evolve. Blue fruit on day 1, nicely concentrated but not jammy. Tannins grippy and closed. Day 2 this bottle gave tremendous forest floor finish.

Aaron Was buying fruit for St Clement nearby, owned by O’Shannasy and he fell in love with the wines. Began searching for something similar in 2004. 75.88 AC with .3 AC of vine in bad condition paid $700K and it had a red wood house. Put all their own money in it. Farms by hand with 2005 first vintage, but 2007 original vintage released and made at quintessa. Clone 15 on 110R root stock, went to cane pruning. Made in …

More approachable vintage, friendly red fruits sold wine. Nice flavors with good density. Lighter in style yet packed with flavors. Lovely stuff. Texture is amazing. Seems lIke it may be an early drinker? Strong vintage, no days over 95 degree days.

Pnp tonight with ribs. Perfect combination. Wine has settled down with sweet red and blue fruits. No bitterness and smooth middle and finish. Not very complex and a medium bodied cab with a good QPR. Nicely done.

Chateauneuf du Pott Tasting : The 2018 Incubo is 98% cab, 2% franc, and 100% delicious. Hailing from Aaron's Mt. Veeder estate, it’s everything you want a mountain cab to be: tannic, powerful, savory, absolutely bursting with aroma and flavor. Heavy red and black fruits are balanced with flowers, burnt caramel, chocolate, herbs, and earth. They're all held together by rich, dense, very slightly sweet juice that loiters around the palate all damn day, like a '90s teenager at a …

So this is a continuation from the bottle opened two days ago (so now day 3). Saved 8 ounces in a jelly/mason jar in the regular fridge. Wow really improved to the point that this is now a more balanced wine AND still has good fruit! Bitterness nearly gone as well. Things are looking up- yay. Hold for 2 years.

PnP (Umm no) and then tasted throughout the night. Still TBD on the 2018 vintage (I believe the stuffing is in the vintage but have not had a wine I would highly rate for my scale, although it is still early in the lineup. First taste was locked up tight and almost no attack. Almost like it forgot to let anyone know there was something there to taste. Left well enough alone. NR First hour in, more to taste but …

14.9% alcohol. Decanted. Another foray into the inaugural vintage. This isn't quite as explosive as other examples, but still very good. All have chewy tannin and massive fruit. No heat. I don't think the tannins will ever resolve, so I'm in the camp of accepting the style (big ass) for what it is and enjoy it now. Royal purple color, black and blue fruit. In the Napa cab world, Mr Pott seems to have his finger on the pulse. Recommended.

2007 Cal Cult Cabs (SE, Harlan, etc.) and a bunch more : On any other night... This is really good, but for most, it trailed. Geez, it only got 95 LS points. It is also very backwards and, along with the Harlan, shows the greatest chance to improve I think. The nose is sweet with cassis, oak and an herbal note that is very nice. Of course, we wondered if that might be pot, but I think I decided on …
