Ecluse Syrah

PnP and drank over 2+ hours while preparing pizza, eating, and afterwards. Semi-opaque black/ruby. Medium body — light for a Syrah. Tart, even bitter, at first. Most, but not all, tartness burned off after 30 minutes. Wonderful, complex flavors: Cranberry, tart cherry, pepper and Mideastern spices. Hints a strawberry and raspberry. Lovely Syrah. Still had a lot of dark fruits on the aroma and mild tannins and black berry, plums, tabacco, oak on the pallet. Finish was medium long and medium body. enjoyed with a prime rib eye on the grill.

Interesting! I am the last person to write a tasting note on this wine and that was almost exactly two years ago! The flavors have remained consistent, though their intensity has lessened a bit. What has improved is the integration of the flavors. All the flavors are singing together in perfect harmony with gorgeous blend and balance! (Sorry - musical analogy!) Bottom line... Really nice! I am glad that I sat on this one for a while. It was really good! The tannins have settled in, the fruit flavor is still pronounced - though in a very well balanced way, the nose is rich, and the taste is excellent. Very good syrah. Paso Rhones haven't done me wrong lately.

Medium dark garnet red. Excellent and plentiful aromas of dark fruit. Fruit transitioned seamlessly into flavors smoothly and with good balance.

Slightly spicy, slightly creamy. Full mouth, medium body. Nice balance.
