Bunchgrass Winery Malbec Frazier Bluff Vineyard

Followed over two nights, though it was great right from the pop and this has moved in a very positive direction since my last one in April. So much more bouquet intensity, depth, and breadth than I would have predicted, which really exposes my more-than-occasional lack of good prognostication skills. Notes after four hours open. Dark, inky ruby color with lightly stained legs and minor sediment. Reserved nose with just some blackberry and vanilla creeping through. Gentle and smooth entry on the palate with soft tannins and sweet berry fruits gushing with good acidity. It is, however, rather short on persistence and in my opinion, varietally non-descriptive. Big fruited wine. Lots of red fruit with raspberry and cherry combined with tobacco and a dusty rocky earth.
