Delmas Field Blend SJR Vineyard

Light raspberry-red color that’s slightly cloudy. There’s a definite cinnamon whiff on the nose, then black raspberry, orange zest. I get syrah, more than grenache, on the initial sip & swirl. It’s light and acidic, and very smooth. It has the Rocks influence in a subdued way, as do all Delmas syrahs. I’d call it interesting, rather than outstanding, but, nonetheless, a well made wine.

Mmm, this has gotten more savory and fun over the past couple of years. Deep Rocks funk, but very Grenache. Surprisingly savory and peppery. Still with a prototypical plummy Grenache personality on the finish. 13.8% alcohol.

Funky nose with red fruits and herbal notes. Meaty red fruit palate with a bit of spice. Medium body, soft tannins, medium acid, medium to long spicy finish.

Really bombastic, almost slutty. Also really funky! Copious flowers and heady lilies on the nose. It's a little short on the back end but it opened up well and got a little more citrus in character.

I drank this a lot younger than I typically open bottles, but was very intrigued and thought I'd open one since I have 6. I really enjoyed this wine - gave 1/2 a bottle about an hour of air before starting and it kept evolving in the glass. Pomegranate notes jumped out at me immediately but also floral notes and a hint of bacon fat. Planning to finish the second 1/2 tonight to see how it changes.

Decanted 2+ hours. Anxious to try. Great nose. Needs time. Has great potential. Will open another in 2 years, if we can wait😁

Don’t drink yet! Funky, odd, spice, earth, sous bois - needs some years to settle down. Fun to open a bottle now and even better to have four more to taste over the next decade.

Double decant. Red fruits. Plum. Garrigue. Very long, very meaty and very spicy finish. Tough and tannic. Undeniably rich. A bit medicinal at the moment. Drinking like a young CDP. I’m not sure I can say that I love it at this stage but it is unlike anything I’ve had before from WA state. Hold.

The inaugural release of the Delmas Field Blend is Grenache dominant with small percentages of Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault. Pungent nose with spice and grilled plum. A surprisingly approachable palate. Serious spice market here. Very savory finish. Faintly dusty tannins but overall quite silky. This is quite tasty.
