14% alcohol. Long cork of pretty good quality. The colour is bright red, light and translucent. Aromatic nose with mixed red fruit and a pleasing leafy note. Searingly pure fruit in the mouth, mostly redcurrant, with vg grip. A textbook Chiroubles in spite of the highish alcohol level (which never impacts). Daniel Bouland is a treasure, year after year.

14% alcohol. Good long cork. Light to medium colour. Beautiful red fruited nose with definite notes of strawberry (of the elegant kind, not the sickly sweet type that I get in some new world PN). Nearly as good in the mouth with bright red fruit and superb acidity; more complex than expected, and pretty long too. Chiroubles is not usually mentioned in the same breath as Morgon or Moulin à V as one of the top crus of Beaujolais, but …

Agree with Grizzlywine just might add for those who dig herbal green freshness - it is there in the form of muddled moist spring grass - and the density of pigment and flavor concentration along with structure and style (?carbonic and noncarbonic blend?) makes this a doppelgänger for a solid fresh N Rhone syrah.

Nicely developed with subtle red fruits, just a touch of earthiness. Medium weight. Nice persistence.

This is drinking really well at the moment. Red to dark fruit, with a slight liqueur type sweetness to the fruit accompanied by a certain light minerality and pleasant balance. As with the best from the region, sometimes what you can say is just "delicious", emphasised by how quickly it disappears from the glass.

Dark purple in the glass. Intriguing nose of dark berries, spices, and mineral and floral notes as well. Palate followed the nose with the dark fruits and mineral notes really shining. Silky finish and the bottle disappeared rather quickly. Jill surprised me by really loving this when I wouldn't have predicted it to be her style.

Note after the fact, but a lovely wine… settled and graceful, yet a surprising amount of power remains for a 6 year old chiroubles

Red berries, along with black soil and scents of smoke. Tart cherry, and long dark earth finish. Medium acidity keeps everything light. Really nice, appreciate its clarity and focus vs the sometimes jammy Morgon.

Impressive, dense, concentrated ripe gamay. Not sure I love the style because i was expecting something more lithe, but the flavors of blackcurrant, berry jam and spicebox were undeniably pleasing.

Cherry, raspberry jam, red berries and some faint herbs and foresty notes on the nose. The light to medium-bodied palate adds cranberry, tart forest berries, cola and decent acidity as well as some slight bitterness. Fine-grained, but still quite grippy tannins and long finish with some astringency, tapering towards tart red berries. The warm year is felt a bit, but is countered well by the structure of acids, tannins and the slight bitterness. Balanced, structured and drinkable. Drink now or …

13.5% alcohol. Very long high quality cork (like what you see on bottles of classified Médoc) with no wine penetration at all. Opened the previous day and drank a glass then, but this note is based on the next day tasting. The colour is fairly deep for Gamay, and it shows no sign of ageing. The nose has lost its exuberant youthful appeal and it is now fairly bland, with a note that is not far from acetic. The mouth …

Oodles of juicy gamay fruit. Complex notes of violets with a touch of pepper on the finish. This is singing right now.

Fresh and nuanced, unfortunatley let down by a bitter finish. Otherwise very enjoyable.

13.5% alcohol. Very good cork, quite luxurious and with very limited wine penetration. The colour is dark, especially for Gamay. Magnificent nose of red berries, including wild strawberries, with some liquorice added; I could sniff this all day long. The mouth is nearly as good with a winning juicy quality but maybe less complexity than on the nose. Superb mouthfeel and long finish. Not a whiff of overripeness in this wine, whatever some say about the vintage. Pretty good grip …

Initially mineral, earth, forest floor. At 3 hours this had the least expressive nose of the 3, palate being lighter, brighter with the gentler red fruits, cherries, violets, mineralite, least complex but felt most youthful. At 24 hours slow ox this remained complex, cherry, mineral, violets.

This had a very complex alluring nose, rose perfumes, black fruits, exotic spices, minerals, grilled meats, so many subtleties and constantly morphing. Palate a little backward and closed, predominantly mineral, prominent acidity, patience will no doubt be rewarded, but a very lovely nose right now.

pale + purple. Bouland energy. Steely mineral nose, red fruits, violets and black pepper, some creaminess and microbiological notes. Gentle yet lively on the palate; the typical Chiroubles descriptor of "the most Beaujolais" of the crus fit here. A deluxe Chiroubles.

The grapes are sourced from a 0,65-hectare plot aged over 40 years. 13,5% alcohol. Translucent, luminous cherry red color. Very open, expressive and obviously really ripe nose speaking volumes about the warm vintage. Aromas of ripe blackberries, sweet black cherries, some crunchy blackcurrant tones, a little bit of raspberry marmalade and a hint of raisiny fruit betraying the hot temperatures of the vintage. The wine is dry, medium-bodied and quite broad on the palate with youthful, juicy flavors of ripe …

A lovely bright sappy deep and intense without weight, highly perfumed red and purple fruited, spice, animale and mineralite. Dark, with great depth, but no heat. Opened significantly over several hours. Lovely now but even better with time.

Dark red to purple. Cherry candy, wet steel nose. Hugely fruity, but light weight, saline and quite long. Acid is of the delicious variety and tannin is only a light wash. This is juicy! Top notch 2015!

State Bird Provisions (San Francisco) : Thin, lithe, and hyper linear. Watery cranberry, cherry, subtle wood, and some herbal flavors. Alcohol and bitter cranberry on the back end. Next-to-no finish. Pass.

Cru Beaujolais Tasting - Exploring all the Crus (New York, NY) : #11 of 21 wines tasted and the first of two representing the Chiroubles cru. The nose on this is very tutti-frutti - that carbonic maceration smell too me again. I have enjoyed this before and really loved the 2014, but today this is tasting quite fruity and jammy and not giving as much pleasure. 0 pennies voted by the group.

First try of the 2015 vintage and finding it just as enjoyable as the 2014. A really great QPR and a becoming a warm weather house favorite. Pnp and consumed over two nights. Minimal change from day 1 to day 2. Color is a translucent dark ruby. On the nose cherry and blackberry. On the palate very bright red fruits, with that fresh juicy acidity, floral notes and then the minerality on the finish. It is clean and fresh and …

Consistent with prior notes. Acid maybe still sticks out a little. Done as an options wine and nearly everyone picked new world, and then Syrah. Goes to show how little these 15's represent their variety and place. Delicious wine nonetheless.

Straight out of the bottle it's very bright-fruited and primary, maybe even a little jammy and bubblegum-ish. Almost purple in colour. Has a nice structure on the palate with a faint bit of chalky tannin in the background. I put it in the fridge to chill slightly and it helped, or maybe it was just the air. With time a more earthy and serious side to this wine emerged, something a bit sappy, a bit smokey and vegetal suggesting some …
