Quite disappointed. 3 hour decant. Very reticent on the nose and palate. Tannins resolving. Medium acidity. Fruit mostly on the blue spectrum. Short finish. If this was $50, I’d be impressed. At the winery price I paid, this is just a very poor QPR. This coming from someone who loves TRB wines. I used to buy from the list but stopped buying. Aside from the base Napa cab, these just don’t have a good QPR.

My last bottle out of three. Tasted over 3 years of periode. This had the best display. Evene thogh it came after first Chateau Montrose 2016 & Chateau Canon 2016. A couple of octan high red wine

Drinking so so well. So impressed. And glad I waited. Densely packed. Concentrated sweet fruit. Toasted oak Elements. Crushed stones. Melted black licorice. Lit tobacco with hints of zesty herbs. Nice acidity, grainy tannins on long finish.

Three hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Boysenberry pie, lemon pound cake, graphite, fresh fig, and rose petals. Dry, slightly tart, strawberry-laden palate, with satiny, tongue coating acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. I didn’t enjoy this nearly as much as my last bottle (about a year ago). It’s good, but not great. The tartness on the palate was distracting. Even so, I’d call this your prototypical Napa CS in regard to weight and structure.

This is a very good wine that I found enjoyable. Great color, an enticing deep, dark, rich purple with a nice florals. On the palate nice berry fruits (black and blueberry, black cherry, blackcurrants and plum) with more of a masculine, full bodied makeup and smooth yet grainy tannins. This is a wine that should be decanted (I didn't) and it would have probably shown better but I'd give this wine a solid 94/ 94+ Points. I paid a few …

If I am going to drink young Napa Cab, this is the way I like them. Super ripe black fruit - cassis, blackberry and cherry. The fruit is so pure and ripe, it carries the wine. Dense and concentrate, but also silky smooth. If you search, there are some faint traces of secondary nuance such as sage/underbrush so that bodes well for the future. It is pure hedonism. It is ostentatious. Fun to drink.

The Great Escape; 3/8/2022-3/9/2022 (Napa) : Great Escape to Napa: 2 day getaway with my dad (3/8/22-3/9/22). 1st tasting on day 1 at Rivers Marie tasting facility with Elizabeth in Calistoga. The setting of the tasting room is absolutely beautiful. In addition, they used Grassl Cru stems for their Chardonnay, Zalto Den'Art Burgundy stems for their pinot and Zalto Den'Art Bordeaux stems for their Cabernet tastings. This was the best stemware I've seen to date! The tasting included: RM Bearwallow …

Two hour slow ox and 30 min in the glass before tasting. Nearly opaque purple color. Lots of fig and anise on the jelly-laden nose. Dry, satiny palate. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. This is out of sorts right now, especially with very little aeration. I expect this will improve dramatically in another year or two. The raw materials are certainly there. It’s simply not yet in it’s drinking window.

Really impressive debut. Lots of dark cherry, blackberry puree with notes of flowers, herbs and minerals.

3 hr decant. New site worked on by TRB and Matt Hardin of Caterwaul in St. Helena, next to a Cemetery! Nothing dead about this wine, there are explosions of flavors on the nose and palate. Strong scents of ripe berries are met initially, then there is this strong core notes of minerals, earthiness, menthol, slate, violets and crushed gravel. Purple, thick, rich, smooth. It’s big but hides it well. Bright acidity, chewy but charming tannins on the long finish! …

This was great and from the PnP. Closest to a ‘16 I’ve had for the vintage.
