P/with 2 hour decant and returned to bottle. Clear w/very minor fine sediment. Deep garnet purple. Light nose. This wine is at it's peak or just after. Dark fruit profile, well integrated, med finish. Showing a touch tired so drink up. Nothing off. $67 winery direct.

PnP w/20 mins glass time. Took some time to unwind both in nose and taste but after 30 showed nicely. Gap's one of my favorite vineyard, this drank med/full bodied, rich, dark fruit, well integrated, fantastic finish that lasted forever. Ideal drinking window, nothing off. Excellent juice, winery direct. $67

Light garnet, light-to-medium body. Nose of cherries and violets. Tastes mostly of sour cherries, thyme, bay, cedar and black pepper. Fine tannins still evident on the finish, this is drinking well but may have another year or so before peak. Not too complex but very nice.

A medium bodied-delivery of black cherry, earth, and some subtle spice. Medium-to-light on the back end. Soft a gentle on the finish, with black cherry and alcohol repeating at the tail end. A little darker fruit overall than Kosta Browne's version by comparison, but a little less energy and body than the KB. Drink the Black Kite now and over the next year or so.

This prodigious vineyard is known for producing some of the best fruit to come out of the Petaluma wind gap, and Black Kite have done a fine job representing the terroir. A prudent concentration and darker fruit, with some earth and rain showers. A medium finish. Drink now - 2023.
