Viña San Pedro Gato Negro Cabernet Merlot

Deep garnet with an appealing ripe, dark fruit nose. Initial palate has the typical inexpensive cabernet notes of slightly sour, somewhat vegetal ripe blackcurrants but with a pleasantly sweet rather than astringent tone that follows into the finish. After about 30 minutes, the wine opened up to a much more balanced palate in line with a cab sauv dominated Bordeaux blend, making for a very good everyday wine at a great ($7) price.
