Walter Scott, Freedom Hill Pinot Noir, Mt. Pisgah Polk County Oregon

Not terrible, but felt like time took this from great to average. Def felt past prime compared to 2014 a couple nights before. Some swaying in structure and pungent earth with slightly off fruit.

Very pretty Oregon PN. Sweet and compelling fruit with lovely balance.

Benefitted from decanting and blossomed after 1hr with nose/taste consistent with prior notes

Powerful nose of berries, herbs, forest floor and some oak. Dark palate of meats, grilled herbs and black berries, with smooth texture and some juiciness. Ripe tannin is fully integrated. This is a fairly big pinot with some complexity and great focus and balance. Excellent, with time yet.

Thoroughly enjoyed with friends @ Boon in Guerneville (tasty food!), this was a perfect foil to the 2012 Dom Leflaive Rully paired with our meal. Still has upside from here. Superbly balanced.

Willamette Auction #2 - Dinner at Bethel Heights (Salem, Oregon) : First of the Pinot flight, served with smoked farro and morel mushrooms. Pommard Clones Bright ruby red color. This has the Pommard elegance but some other characteristics that are hard to categorize. Gorgeous nose of sweet strawberry and really ripe cherry. The mouth-feel is soft and smooth and is the most remarkable thing about the wine. When first opened, the wine was at its best - very sleek and soft. Cherry-cola and ripe red fruit flavors, enough tannin to carry the wine and subtle acidity. Two hours later the wine became slightly harder-edged on the initial attack but …

Initially hot and acidic. With some air, rounded out and showed off more character and terroir. Notes of dirt, since, ginger, and cherry. Smooth across the mid palate and a short finish with subtle notes of pepper.

We really enjoyed it. A bigger style, with rich red cherry fruit, a bit of sweetness, and a nice oak treatment. Extremely drinkable; it was gone before we knew it.

Great nose, with lots of character. Medium body. There is a lot going on here, and this would be fun to re taste in a few years.
