Pop and pour...no good at all. . Aromas of old leather...purple mixed with brown. Decanted. As time goes by ( music: as time goes bye...) it improved considerably and became in less than two hours a solid 91 rate. This21 years old bottle surprised me. Better to drink in a small diameter glass at tip, like a glass of sparking wine.

I know people are saying this is past but da'um this is good. Give me all your bottles if you don't want them.

Excellent wine that has stood up to the extended aging in the bottle. Wine had great bouquet with rich fruit and finished very smooth.

Allowed to breathe in glass one hour before tasting. Clear deep garnet-blood red color. Lovely bouquet of dusty dried cherries, black currants, creme de cassis, lavender, dried lilacs, forest floor, hints of nutmeg and coconut. Similar on the palate, full body, seamless, balanced, classic Napa cabernet. Previously I wrote that this wine needs to be consumed soon, but this bottle is in great shape with plenty of life remaining.

Past it's prime. No tannins, but fruit has also reduced. Also had trouble removing the cork.

Tasted it during an Excelsior Member's Rubicon Vertical tasting at Inglenook. Tasting came from a 1.5L bottle. Slight orange color on the rim. Some sediment. Long legs in the glass. Some tannins still remain. Definitely more fruit on the palate than the 1991.

Magnum @ the Wagners Brick colored, ox-blood, medium+ body Wet wood, stewed fruit, red currents, dirty, muddy earth, soil Medium finish, silky smooth, velvety tannins, some tobacco hints, fruit quickly diminishes as wine opens up. salty, sweet, dusty finish DRINK YOUR WINE!!!! We caught this wine at the end of its life. If the bottle had not been a magnum, I fear it would have passed us by. It was an excellent bottle, but the fade out had begun.

Very light aromas of dry fruits, opaque and showing maturity. Taste of dry plums and figs. Round, wood taste at the end. If you have some of them, drink ASAP. Better drank in less than two hours.

A Ten Year Retrospective of Chateau Pontet Canet with Alfred Tesseron (Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Chicago) : Crimson color, touch of age at the meniscus. Leather, plum, red fruit and floral notes; rose petals. Balanced, with fully-integrated tannins and flavors of red currants, plum and dried herbs. Long finish.

Tasty wine, on the way out. Do not delay if you have any in the cellar. Drops off on the finish a bit, but still holds a little fruit on the tongue. Typical cassis and cherries on the nose.

Soft with none of big fruit and big tannins of a few years ago. Leather, prune, a touch of green bell pepper. Better after decanter 30 mins. Still quite lovely with a filer. Drink now.

Elegant, classy notes of black cherries, oak, and earth. Did not show the nice floral notes I remembered 3 years ago. Not getting any better, so drink up.

Glass shows black cherry intensity. Rich nose shows tannin with fruit overtones, but the intensity is a bit weak. Great taste, but not perfect... it's a Bordeaux-style California wine but it doesn't have that California fruit intensity or the French terroir intensity. However, this was stored at room temperature since purchase so one has to wonder. 11.5/15 but that seems a bit harsh.
