Light bright red/purple colour. Very light nose. Slightly sour and astringent initially but with a clean and simple finish. Not what I expected. Possibly faulty bottle.

Light brick red colour. Lovely simple red fruit nose. Light and silky smooth with a firm, clean dry tannin finish with plenty of acid. Nice drinking and a good match for BBQ fillet steak.

Bright purple red colour. Light savoury nose. Tight and firm with a somewhat high acid finish. Smooth and lean and nice drinking with our lamb cutlets with mint sauce. I hope this wine mellows a bit over time as the dry acid tannin finish dominates the subtle flavours.

Something a bit different, Touriga traditionally used for fortifieds. Fragrant nose, medium bodied, some Hunter earthiness on the palate, perhaps the finish a little short. Nice drink nonetheless.

Bright ruby red. Nice firm, strong red fruit nose. Lovely light red fruit with a firm lingering finish. A little chalky, but nice firm tannins. Very comfortable wine but not bold, rich or deep, but in the true spirit of Hunter shiraz.

Hunter Valley 2019 Trip; 3/8/2019-3/9/2019 : Liquorice, plum, cherry and some meaty character. Pretty good substance on the palate, with tannins and acid giving the wine some backbone against medium weight fruit. Great result from the vintage.

Hunter Valley 2019 Trip; 3/8/2019-3/9/2019 : Herbal, smoke, ash, tobacco and briar. Light depth, drops away a little early on the palate. Not a good showing today.

Bright light purple/red in colour. Light red fruit nose. Firm fruit with a nice mouthfeel with strong acid at the back which does not detract from the finish. Not complex but still young.

Hunter Valley - 4 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley) : {screwcap, 13.8%, $40} A black plum quality not that far from the aromas of the Steven vineyard shiraz of 2015. But the palate here is richer (the vintage perhaps?). Dry, with medium/high acid, low/medium chalky tannins, not much oak, loose-knit generous fruit in line with the aromas, and an even, savoury palate with a medium length finish. Nice wine. 5-8 years’ cellaring will work nicely.

black fruits with a cherry kirsch flow over. Lovely fruit sweetness, spicy and savoury tannin bring a great deal of balance to the table. Great food wine. Bingo bango

Deep and dark Crimson colour. Strong fruit nose of plum or prune. The palate has soft dry tannins with big full fruit flavour. Unusual in style but great mouthfeel and low alcohol. Very interesting.

Dark and dense in the glass with a purple hue. Steady fruit nose. Smooth and dry with a tight acid and savoury finish. Interestingly different.
