La Roncaia Friuli Colli Orientali Gheppio

Drinking well at 21 years old. Red cherries, red currants, black pepper, olive, bitter herbs, tobacco and cooked red meat. Medium + body with a bit of tannin still hanging on. The finish is quite long. Drink now; probably won't benefit from any further aging. Paired with roasted chicken with red cabbage and while it worked with the cabbage, I regret not using red meat.

Still alive and well at 21 years of age. Ripe and layered, brisk acidity and a lovely black olive and earth note. Such a well made wine!

Wonderful wine, dry, nuanced and loaded with flavors of black olives, dried fruit and toast. Balance is impeccable.

Surprisingly dense and extracted with notes of coffee, chocolate, dried fruits and leather. Needs to be paired with highly flavored foods.
