Chiarello Family Vineyards Zinfandel Giana

Totally different style than the usual CA Zin: this looked more like a pinot in the glass, with relatively light ruby color with high clarity. Not a whole lot on the nose, but the palate is filled with cherries, backed up with red currant and a little spice. Persists nicely on the finish. Tannins are nicely resolved and it is drinking beautifullly. Very elegant and enjoyable. I'd score it higher if the nose was more delightful.

Mother's Day with Steak from the grill Bright Red with big full cehrry-berry Zin nose. Think and sweet cherry jam. Hint of cherry nyquil smooth and very long long juicy finish. Always good.

Followed Tensley 2002. No decanted drank over an hour. No detailed notes, but tasted zin. Not very zin-like. Moderate fruit. Would not purchase again.

Served witha mixed grill of scallops and filet for Mothers Day. Dark red purple. THis is juicy and jammy and almost feels sweet. A mouthfull of ripe purple berries, tangy adn juicy. Long legs. Rich ad Juicy with Tangy with bursting strawaberry flavors. Nice finish. Always a favorite.
