Took to Le Pichet to pair with their fabulous roast chicken. Another perfect bottle at a pretty perfect moment in middle age. Could not have asked for a better pairing.

Every now and then you open a bottle that seems perfectly in its moment, the best it can possibly ever be. Decanted two hours before serving, this was such a wine. Garnet color with orange rim, full secondary splendor on the nose and palate, demurely opulent and just plain dazzling.

An Impromptu Wine Night (Mostly Rhones) (Los Olivos, CA) : Just a small taste from a shared bottle. As quaffable as they come, polished and sweet, with notes of baked berries and exotic spice. Good concentration. Not the most complex, but well done.

Opens up beautifully after some hours. Refined, sensual, luscious, dark! Med acidity, good length. I get more woody elements, a dusty tobacco box, also dark cherries and spice.

Much better than the first bottle. Lovely bright colour, enticing nose, precise balanced flavour lots of summer fruit and spice. Continues to evolve with a long finish. Needs a bit more complexity to get into best CNDP

I really enjoyed this wine. Meaty, spice and soft red berries. Maybe a little over ripe on the nose. Great complexity from a spectrum of ripe and green flavors without the hated sweet and sour veg. The palate is rich. Ripe tannins and great depth. Lovely balance and freshness. Very solid.

Beautifully evolved cdp. I always prefer this to croix de bois. Lovely ruby color with aromas of red plum, kirsch, fig, anise and baking spices. A little bit of dusty earth as well as black tea. On the palate it is suave and not aggressive in the least. I am really beginning to prefer the less ripe and less flamboyant vintages like 2011 and 2006. This is a prime example

Dark with a hint of purple. Nose plummy with a bit of cough mixture. Good balance of acidity and fruit, weirdly marzipan appears from time to time. Reasonable length but not a classic CNDP. Left me a bit underwhelmed.

Hour decant A little sharp in the initial taste but what a wonderful mid palate and finish. Delicious. No rush.

Best red wine on the table this week at my local tasting group. Elegantly styled, with fresh white pepper, and ripe Grenache cherry notes. It’s lean in body but very complete with crunchy red fruit on the palate. I think it will go a good 8-10 years from here

From a magnum. Opened, but not decanted, in a NYC restaurant, for over 50 minutes before pouring. This was a treat! My first 2014 CdP.

There is a good purity of fruit here, with soft, silky tannins and freshness. This 100% Grenache based wine is produced in an elegant, fresh, forward, sensuous, kirsch dominated style. Drink this young while waiting for the 2015 to come around.

Deep red and clear with no sediment. Highly aromatic, with red raspberry, licorice, and garrigue. Exceptionally smooth and caressing on the palate. Fleshy, with an electric, racy quality. Exactly what one would expect free-run juice made from 90yr old vines in CDP to be. Made in concrete vats, with no oak. Gorgeous wine. I chose this bottle due to its 14.5% alcohol, which is lower than most vintages (the 2004 BarbeRac is 16%). For me, that was a good decision. …

PnP I've been looking forward to trying this and was not disappointed. A little funky on opening that seems to have mostly blew off, strong spicy, herby nose complemented with some serious red raspberry. Pretty low alcohol for a CDP as in its not really noticeable. Palate is soft and fruity with herbs and stoney flavors. A wine to drink over the next ten years I would think.

Pure, sweet, vibrant and silky, the supple textured wine delivers a lot of polished ripe, lush fruit in the finish. Produced from 100% old vine Grenache, the wine reached 14.5% alcohol.
