Herdade do Mouchao Alentejo Vinho Licoroso

Rich, layered perfume - exotic spice, wood and dried berries. Cranberry, lingonberry, raspberry ripple, yet with a steak of ashy earth. Bright, translucent layers, with dusting of cocoa aromatics and cocoa savoury. Sweet, yes, but not excessively, still finely balanced, finishing long and clean with a hint of development. Excellent paired with chocolate cake! So easy to drink!

Blackish, sweet, tannic, red roses and caramel flavours. Somewhat nutty and floral, and raisinny. Great!

Alentejo Trip; 6/3/2018-6/8/2018 : Really solid fortified Alicante Bouschet from Mouchao. On the nose, I get blueberries, fig cookies, roasted plums, candied pecans, clove. Rich texture, tannins are grippy but have rounded edges, little bit of acidity helps it stay moving. Warm, sweet but woven together well, delicious plum cake, blackberry jam and roasted figs. I get notes of coconut, cinnamon, cocoa powder, sweet espresso. Earthy, charcoal notes on the finish. Very impressed with this wine.
