From the "best enjoyed by" dates and earlier reviews I thought this one might be over the hill but not at all. Ripe black cherry on the nose and palate with forest floor, cardamom and something like caramel on the palate. It was screaming "drink me" but I suspect it had a few good years left. Wish I had more than the one bottle. No tannins to speak of, but it had thrown a sediment and I'd recommend decanting.

RRV delicious and quite pleasing. Still on the young side...checking in again in 4-8 years would be smart.

Aged well where the fruit has slightly subsided and revealed nice coreof mineral and spice - more delicate and subdued for a dumol - drink up

maybe over the hill. color indicated age, nose not firm but very cherry like with medicinal undertones. on the palate pure cherry. it got better within the three hours of driking but nothing special. elegant for sure but not a head turner. definitely drink NOW. this has no legs left. it was good because it is interesting. no fruit bomb.

2nd Annual Gem Dinner (Ardeo - Washington, DC) : Rich nose of kirsch, dark cherry, and shredded cherry tobacco. My worry with these wines are always that the alcohol will be overwhelming and/or the fruit will be too big...well, I didn't have to worry about either of these concerns with this wine. I thought this was very well resolved with good acidity, fruit and balance throughout.

Dark red, but no longer a fruit bomb (which may be a good thing), instead sour cherry notes and acidity and structure on the palate. For any other wine, I would say awesome. For this it means the fruit's receding and it's on the way down. Drink now.

DC Crew Gem Tasting; 12/22/2010-12/23/2010 (Ardeo, Washington DC) : Nose of rainer cherry candy, a little earth and spice. Palate was candied red fruit, a touch of earth, and some spice. The finish was average in length and for a cali wine it was somewhat balanced and not completely overdone. There is a reason I don't own any cali pinot, I just don't get it. 88-89

Order out of Chaos (Ardeo, Washington DC) : This was a lovely Pinot, but was an unfortunate casualty next to the Groffier. Seductive earthy nose mixes Tobacco (nice call Tooch) and red cherry with notes of boysenberry. Lovely finish but was still tight, even having decanted prior. I'd let it rest for more time or decant prior to service.

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (Jeffrey's Office - Corona Del Mar, CA) : Muscular notes of black cherries, crushed strawberries, red clay, earth, and cola nut. Full-bodied and meaty on the palate with a touch of heat on the finish. 87-88 points.

Hawaii Vacation Wines - Fall 2007; 10/4/2007-10/14/2007 (Big Island, Hawaii) : This is one awesome Pinot, with a deep and complex nose. Cherry, earth, spice, and a touch of violet on the nose. Pomegranete, cherry, earth, and leather in the mouth. This wine is well balanced with acidity and provides a lush, complex mouthfeel. Long, lingering finish that has cascading flavors.

Nice Taste, right at the edge of the tongue..... but color is going brickish

Medium-deep burgundy color. Lovely weight and texture, but a bit on the tart side (to an acidity-friendly palate), which is my only cavil. Nose is very attractive: red fruit, spice and a hint of cola (though no overt "sweetness"). Long finish, but just not quite balanced to my taste on the day.

This is the first DuMOL I've had from a vintage preceding 2003 (my first vintage on the mailing list). Turns out DuMOL has been getting it right for years now. This offering is spicy on the nose, showing somewhat reticent notes of tart cherry and violet, but the palate is where it really kicks things into gear -- loads of ripe raspberry, fig, and brown sugar strut their stuff, along with some oak influence toward the back end. The nutty, …

I like how this wine has evolved. Still bright red fruit on the nose with flavors of strawberry and spice on the palate, following all the way through to the finish. Nicely integrated and balanced with a good finish, my only complaint being hints of heat and cola on the finish.

Restaurant purchase - Decanted for 25 minutes and consumed over the following 90 mins. Deep and rich for a pinot; not flowery or overly burdened with the typical strawberry/red fruit aromas and flavors. This is a pretty sophisticated pinot, well integrated and maturing nicely. Didn't take component notes, but this had a great mouthfeel, smooth tannins and a nice long finish. One of the best pinots I've enjoyed, and it still has several years left on it.

This is easily one of the top two or three wines that I've opened all year. Deep nose, wonderfully balanced, lovely in the mouth. Wish I had more!

Decanted briefly before drinking, wine had a nice claret color--somewhat fading ruby--, medium body. Cherrry and strawberry overtones with a wonderful creaminess. A beautiful wine that was perfect with the dinner of BBQ'd salmon, crisp potatoes and braised carrots. Recommended!

Purchased on release for $50 at the wine shop in Brix restaurant in Yountville. A delightfully coquettish pinot, with tart bing cherry notes from start to finish. Satiny and velvety in the mouth, it builds to a pleasing crescendo on the back of the tongue and then smoothes out on the finish like a gentle wave lapping at your feet on a calm summer evening. Impressive. Drink now.

Served with Seared Tuna steaks on a bed oa Asian slaw with a Mango chutney over the top. A liitle spice, a little sweet to add to the Tuna. A great wine, Beautiful nose, full mouth feel, taste of soft berries, a little spice ande earthiness. A wonderful Russian River Pinot. One of our favorite Pinots. Had Bill and Kate over. Both appreciate good wine and they loved the wine. In retrospect, the spiceness of the asian slaw was a …

Trifecta of Pinot's: 03 Loring Llama, 02 Kosta Browne Cohen, 01 Dumol RRV (Cafe Loupe NYC) : Medium ruby red. The nose pops of classic Russian River Valley fruit including berries, currant, some strawberry, light spice, and brown sugar. I think we opened this at a perfect time as it was firing on all cylenders. The body was medium and palate had a great mouthfeel. Kris mentioned he thought the wine was taking on weight and I agreed upon my …
