A glorious rich and luxuriant champagne with appley notes then strawberries and cream on the palate

Disgorged 2017. PnP, had a bit of cork taint on the aroma. Twinge of same on the palette. Didn't improve. Back in the fridge, next day was a disaster, far worse.

Champagne and Bordeaux dinner with a few rarities : No disgorgement details but most likely a base year from the mid-00s. Most including myself guessed house because of the roundness and sweetness, but became more vinous and balanced with air. Some citrus and quince notes. Have had mixed experiences with old Bouchards but this was lovely, albeit made in a completely different style from today’s wines.

Over-the-top lunch (Ibiza (Chappaqua, NY)) : Lot V08, disgorged April 2010. Perhaps my favorites of the Champagnes today; vibrant and brightly fruited with intense citrus and pear flavours, chalky minerality, and more savoury yeasty and lightly toasty flavours. Love the acids and sense of energy here. I’m surprised how youthful it shows with relatively little development apparent, but it’s absolutely delicious.

Over the Top Lunch (Ibiza Restaurant Chappaqua) : disgorged April 2010. Old name for the Val Vilaine. Loads of spice, acid still quite present. The fruit has fallen off a little, but this has settled in quite nicely as it ages.

Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL) : Disgorgement unknown; grey label with Côte de Béchalin printed on the back over a map. Does anyone make labels as awful as Bouchard? Answer: no. Bouchard's labels are what Marcassin is to wine: absolute trash. Anyway, this bottle was really weird and yeasty on the palate, and also showed some TCA. /rant

2006 vintage/ disgorged in 2013. P&P. 2 very nice bottles from the same batch. rich aromas and rich palate, fine bubble. One of the bottles had fresher and more tonic than the other. Very good now.

WIMPS Champagne and Chardonnay Offline (La Trompette) : Well this was a treat. On the nose lemon curd and a hint of cider. Gorgeous and expansive on the palate - ripe apples, custard. Very long finish. This passed my "Wine Searcher" test but was sad to see this is rare as hens teeth

Entry level my tooshy! Don't know if it's 2008 magic, or Cedric magic...but this is a fine bottle of suds here! Starts out with a fresh burst of lemon and grapefruit squeeze...cut with tiny tingly bubbles...a little ginger snap zip...the fruit is ample and quite crystalline...peach, quince, crisp apple...some cherry...age has brought on a wonderful calm sheen of honey butter, dried apple rings, ginger almond creme...not much of a mousse, yet still creamy. There is this great play of youthful …

-Mature- Small tight bubbles but low pressure when cork was removed Dusty yellow fruit with almonds and some hints of cellar age on the nose Taste is light fruit flavors of bruised apple and pear, lemon cream, and brioche. Not clearly BdN as I didn’t pick up any red fruits. This comes in an elegant soft package with a creamy texture Age has softened this. Some would love the elegance but others might find it past it’s prime. I preferred …

Ryan's ESPN Birthday : I like this! A little funk in the beginning, but that blew off quickly and gave way to rich notes of bruised apple, some savoriness, and concentrated mineral. Lovely restraint and focus. Delicious! Feel fortunate to have tasted.

"Brunch is the gamay of meals" Vol. 2 (Chicago, IL) : Disgorged in April 2012, V. 10. I think I used to like these wines a lot more. Nowadays, I just don't see the fuss about them. In fairness this may be in a bit of an awkward stage where it's starting to pick up a little bottle age but still lacking the complexity that comes with it. This has sadly thinned out a bit, showing somewhat prickly acids and …

No disgorge or base year noted on label but purchased this bottle in 2010 so inferred from other data points that this may be '09 disgorge with '02 base (in which case I believe this is a wine Bouchard inherited with the vineyard purchase). Didn't know what to expect here and very positively surprised. Has aged incredibly well. Light colored, youthful and fresh. Pure red berry fruit. Great depth and balance. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Simply glorious and probably my favorite champagne value out there. As much as I loved the BdB from earlier in the week, there is nothing like the full, enveloping goodness of this wine. Mature, tiny bubbles tickle the palate and leaves a wonderful trail of baked bread and berry fruit. Spot on. (94)

Pretty spectacular bottle. These wines are a little strange because they have the richness, in this case both from the '08 vintage and the style of the wine, that drinks like a high-end vintage Champagne, but it is missing the strong autolytic notes and the chalkiness. Age has tamed some of the more overt fruitiness that I can get from younger versions. Deep and resonant, the "Burgundy with bubbles" label is very apt in this case. This is the oldest …

Gogget i 2010.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL) : Tasted blind. Obviously Champagne with a Pinot orientation, this showed lots of apple and berry with toasted rye bread. Good power, good weight. Not as bright and dancing as I remember from 3-4 years ago. Disgorged April 2012.

Blind Champagne Tasting (The Winery Restaurant in Newport Beach, CA (The OC)) : Poured blind as part of a Bouchard flight. We neither knew the vintages nor the lieux-dits. Disgorged 04/2012. Flinty, with a crushed rock nose. In this wine, my notes say 'like tasting the ground, the soil'. Good structure, lemon-lime, round with a green apple tone that is very spicy, with a long finish. I liked the way this showed and despite the pricing on these that seem …

Welcome to Fall Offline - featuring a Chateau Rayas Fonsalette vertical (Amali Restaurant - NY, NY) : 2nd wine & first of the bubbles. V10 - disgorged 4/12. Fine mousse that dissipates with time in glass. Tart & bright, some lemon and grapefruit - crisp and refreshing, but has not developed the complexities of the '05 tasted side by side - so this just seemed simpler in a direct comparison. Still lovely and imagine it will deepen with time in …

Dorato intenso, fine perlage. Naso di albicocca disdrata, mela cotogna, cenni di fragolina acerba, fieno, zucchero a velo, agrumi. Molto mobile e nobile. In bocca è elegante, maturo, attacca secco e sapido e diviene poi più fresco. Lungo finale su note quasi biscottate
