Opened a magnum we cellared for many years. It was still very good with tannins to provide some body and lovely fruit. I will say that the cabs (2005 and 2007) stole the show.

Drinking wonderfully out of magnum. Darker, earthier fruit profile with modest complexity. Well balanced and fresh.

Nice round nose of ripe dark fruit that also presents itself on the tongue. The most notable is Blackberry with an aftertaste of blueberry. The wine is not incredible complex, but it is very enjoyable. The tannins have mellowed quite a bit. Drink this now, it seems as though it is winding down.

In a really good place right now. Concentrated fruits, a nice barnyard component to the nose, mostly integrated tannins, very dark and dense.

Knock-out Good Syrah! Beautiful black and red berries with pepper and a light violet component. Still has room to improve. Wish I had more.

Violets and black fruits. Blackberry with hints of licorice, olive and meatiness. Tannins present but fairly well integrated but still very primary. Medium minus acid. Medium finish. Modest length. Not a long term hold, but over the next several years should drink well.

Dark purple, nice earthy aroma and though a bit young has a pleasant balance. Drink next one in a year.

Agree with hal0. Very concentrated flavors. Consumed it way too young. It's still brash with flavor spikes. Age is necessary. Revisit in 5 years. Potential to be wonderful.

Not nearly as interesting as previous bottles. Seemed thin and one dimensional.

Nose of blackberry. Sweet fruit at first leading to an acidic finish.

Still youthful, but fruit up front gives way to deeper complexity.

Full-bodied, opaque dark purple, some sediment. Black cherry, leather, and white pepper on the nose. Restrained fruit on attack, cherry and blackberry, with a spice and faint cocoa quality, and some classic Syrah meaty funk. Long finish, tannins are strong and a bit harsh until the second day of tasting. Based on this outing, this vintage will need to lay down for several years but should be really interesting by about 2015.

Consumed over the course of two evenings, this Syrah was much better on the second night. Typical California Syrah nose on opening, but aeration helped it settle into a beautiful, seductive wine. I will definitely be picking more of this up.

Gobs and gobs and gobs of dark fruit. Finishes a bit sweet. Well balanced.
