When compared with the Mayford, this had more oak, and was a richer wine. Dark fruits, oak and cocoa. Ripe and, for me, less varietal although others in the tasting group liked it. Good tannins to close.

Vibrant medium-dark purple. Rich and luscious on the palate, with lots of sweet oak. Fine tannins. Sweeter than any Rioja I've had. Very enjoyable, perhaps lacking in complexity - at least at this early stage in its development. 13.5%, screwcap.

Varietal typicity aplenty, it's a very pure style of Tempranillo without the herbaceous leathery qualities you find in Rioja. Fragrant with vanilla tinged red berry fruit, there is some gravel in the mid palate. A bit tight right now, this needs time to become more expressive and poised. 89 now, potential for 90-91.
