Domaine Drouhin Oregon, Chardonnay Arthur, Dundee Hills

Lovely aged Chardonnay. Dominant note of ginger, but floral, honey, citrus, spice and perhaps a hint of grassiness. Nicely structured entry, not cloying but crisp and a hint of honey. Tropical fruit hints, slightly candied. The only thing lacking in its age is fruit. In addition finis is a bit astringent, but with vegetable pot pie this was a nice pairing! If you have this in your cellar, it’s probably past its prime but still a very nice wine.

2008 vintage

This wine is right in my wheelhouse now. Secondary notes well developed, honey, butterscotch, maple with still good acid. Love this wine, wish I had more of this vintage.

2015 vintage

I was expecting more secondary flavor development, but what I taste is muted primary. I don't think this aged quite as well as expected. Drink now.

2016 vintage

Upon initial opening, the aroma and flavor were very almond-like. The palate showed some pithiness. But after decanting and chilling slightly, the almond note of oxidation subdued and blended into the fruity pithiness. Pretty interesting but suggest not waiting longer to open.

Purchased 7 months ago at the winery. Light golden color. Shy nose with aromas of apple and pear. Medium mouthfeel with flavors of citrus, stone and spice. I agree with many of the previous tasters. This is a village Chablis in Oregon clothing. Great balanced acidity. I’ll order more.

Very mature. Secondary flavors are well developed, with still a bit of the original pear flavor. Drink now through 2025.

I bought a few bottles of this wine at the winery and had them shipped. Clear, light golden. Graphite, steel and lime on the nose All lime, lemon, limestone and nice final note of butterscotch. Reminds me of a Chablis. Good with Tarragon chicken and asparagus.

2014 vintage

Straw yellow. Aromas of sherry, almond, lychee, and rather muted, even after some air. Light body, this is a bit oxidized - almost some sherry-like notes. Almonds, passion fruit at first but it fades, toasty oak notes, maybe lemon curd. This is well past it's prime, though I wonder if it's an issue of a bad cork letting in too much air. When I tasted this in 2018 I expected it to age. Bummer.

Nose: Lemon and grass Taste: minerals, lime stone, some lemon and tart fruit but smooth.

White fruits and litchi in the bouquet. On the palate creamy and round, ripe yellow fruits, a touch of oak and sweetness and a bit oxidized. Ok acidity.

Not good. Looked fine (golden yellow), smelled like a sweet tart, but tasted almost like pine resin. Guessing it had been kept in poor storage conditions or exposed to heat.

I think this bottle is slightly off. No bouquet and palate is quite muted, but a little salty. However, it was nice with our Moroccan chicken dinner tonight. I’m hoping others are more tasty.

Crisp, dry Chardonnay, with plenty of well-integrated oak. It’s a hard one to place - not really Burgundian, certainly not Californian, I don’t know if I’d naturally arrive at Oregon, but it’s really a fabulous wine. Elegant.

Nose: floral, herbs (lavender, tarragon), goat cheese Mouth: creamy, goat cheese. Mod acidity in finish Subtle complexity

2015 vintage

I clearly didn't like the last bottle I had 2 years ago, but now I'm actually digging it in its more mature phase. I wouldn't let it go much longer, but the baby fat has integrated and it's much more structured and angular now. Went well with chicken shawarma. Drink up.

Showing well. Warm vintage but shows balance w nice acidity. Paired well with boiled lobster clarified butter on our anniversary. Lime, pineapple,pear and a fruit I can’t quite place. Nice weight (soft) and loved the mouthwatering acidity. Brilliant edges in the glass but dark yellow from the ripeness of the vintage.

Balanced, complexity, good fruit, wine has developed nicely but I would drink up, drank easily, drank with whole wheat pasta with clam sauce and fried calamari, prosciutto with melon, last bottle, would drink again.

Beautiful, balanced - hard to stop drinking it.

Nice, somewhat restrained style new world Chardonnay. Definetly a food wine. I did not find the oak invasive, but a good balance to this wines other structural qualities.

A pronounced nose of peach, cooked apple, and pear. The nose hints at sweetness but there is joke - this is bone dry and crisp. The oak lingers in the finish, though with pleasant fruit and white flowers.

Somewhat ambivalent, golden color, simple bouquet, very balanced but oak does stand out a bit, medium acidity, good fruit, lacks complexity, wine has not developed as well as I would have hoped, mellow finish, drank with whole wheat spaghetti with clam sauce with kale, will drink again as I have another bottle.

Started out disjointed but opened And became more balanced as we drank, oak overwhelmed fruit which is unusual for DDO, drank easily but i was thirsty, drank with fish tacos with cod and wahoo, last bottle, this vintage has been a disappointment.

Good qpr. Tart, with Meyer lemon and citrus.

Golden, translucent color. Lifted aromatics of green apple, lemon and baked bread/malo. Bright initially (lemon, honey) but super acidic and almost sour on the back-end. Round, creamy flavors on the finish. Won't be to everyone's taste, as the acidity in the middle is quite bracing.

Very like Chablis—nice balance of butter and acidity.

Nose is subtle. Ripe yellow apple, backed with definite cream note. Even a touch of fino sherry, but this wine isn't volatile or faulty. Slight herbal lift. Palate shows a medium+ character. Quite rounded and creamy, even sour cream/cream cheese. The high alcohol is noticeable and is more a feature than the acidity. Finish is med+. Slight bouquet, golden color, wine still tasted fresh, great acid and fruit balanced, complex flavors, drank easily with whole wheat pasta and clam sauce with grilled NJ swordfish, great structure, a pleasure to drink wonder how this compares to some good Burgundies, will drink again, wonder if it will develop further.

Yellow-gold color. Melon, white peach, lemon on the nose; more peach and citrus on the palate. Round and lively on the palate. Restrainted oak. All in all, a nice quaff.
